Talk about putting words in my mouth. I absolutely don't support players that jump from team to team in hopes of landing on the eventual winner, but despite the popular opinion around here there is more to life than the Red Wings. We all have our allegiances to this team, mine is greater than any other sports team in the world, but to criticize a guy who took a financial risk in the first place to be on this team is petty and childish. After this season, win or lose I wish Hossa all the best, thank him for signing with us initially as well as his incredible play donning the Winged Wheel, and just hope he's seen enough from this organization to convince him to stay for good. However, if he does decide to move on, he still very much deserves our respect. He certainly doesn't deserve an immature poster calling him out every time he visits the Joe.

That's real easy to say when its not *your* money. How convenient for you. He owes us nothing more than the season he signed up for. If he chooses to move on and gets booed by Red Wings fans than I find that to be pathetic.

That was speculation regarding Gaborik since they're good friends. All recent reports point towards Hossa's re-signing with Detroit. Now, why would you head to the Joe with anti-Hossa signs if he decided to move on after this year (Cup or not)? The guy took a massive gamble signing a one-year deal when he could've had job security for life. He owes the Red Wings nothing other than playing his best this season. He deserves no flack if he decides to move on next year.

Just an FYI to those starting new threads regarding the re-signing of Hossa and Franzen....we already have one. Unless something new and definitive comes up (in the form of a signing) please post your information/thoughts in here.

They also escaped playing teams like Calgary, Anaheim and San Jose. It goes both ways. I don't justify the Wings' Stanley Cup last year, and I don't think they had it as tough as it could've been either. It's irrelevant. The Red Wings did what great teams do when the playoffs start regardless of who they played.

OT: I don't think they're going to make the finals.

But does that make their accomplishment any less significant? Just because the West tends to be more physical doesn't mean the East is a bunch of cream-puffs. Also, if were going to say the West is more physical I would say that the East uses more speed, which would also be physically draining through 3 rounds. The conditioning needs to be there just as much as it does in the West.

If you want to call it that, than it could just as easily be said that the Eastern conference teams were mentally stronger than the West teams the couldn't overcome their "bizarre" meltdowns.

QFT It truly seems like a solid amount of Wings fans on this site are suffering from an inferiority complex when it comes to Crosby. Why people continue to bring him up and obsess with the leagues' decision to promote him is beyond me. Who gives a s***? Stop and think for a second.....is what you're complaining about really that important? Last I checked, the Wings beat Sidney and the Pens last year for the Cup. Why is it that some people not only need that, but for the world to praise the Wings at every chance they get? Besides, plenty of folks in the media have been calling the Wings the best-run organization and the envy of all other teams in professional sports for the past few years. That's good enough for me.

Because people and families tend to build lives where they live. It's not as simple as just saying, "suck it up and move wherever I chose to go". Also, calling the West the superior conference isn't entirely accurate. While I would tend to agree its been the stronger of the two in recent history, before the Ducks won the Cup in 07 the past 3 winners were from the East. On top of that, 10 of the past 17 Cup Winners currently reside in the Eastern Conference.

I'm chalking this season up as a bad dream. Seriously, how do I go from consistently being near the top of the standings each year, and yet suck so much this season. This is what I get for thinking too much about who to pick.
