No, its just because you can't see how truly different this team is from years past. This is not the same Sharks team....from the experience they've brought in on the blue line to the new coaching style to the work-ethic they display...they are going to be a force. The fact of the matter is people used the excuse that the Sharks aren't a playoff team after the Wings got beat by 4-2 to now they're suddenly once again not afraid of them because the Wings blew them out last night. It's bulls***. It's just people calming their fears. I'm most certainly not saying the Sharks will beat the Wings in the conference finals if they are fortunate enough to meet up against one another, but they do deserve respect given the changes they've made and how differently the team is playing and coached. If you truly can't see any difference from last year, I question how closely you're paying attention to them.
-
Please! One bad blowout loss doesn't make them overrated, just that the Wings were on tonight and can beat anyone when they play a full 60 minutes. Don't go overboard and knock the Sharks for one embarrassing loss, because I guarantee it'll happen to the Wings before the year is over. Are they then overrated? Great game all-around by the Wings, and they sent (beyond) a statement with this win.

This is everything I've been saying, especially the bolded points.
-
But that absolutely doesn't mean it'll carry over to the NHL level, and with the defense playing as porous as they are the Wings aren't going to put Larsson's progress in jeopardy simply because he's playing better than Howard. It's just not worth the risk for a team as talented as the Wings. There's so much more to consider than just bringing up Goalie B instead of Goalie A due to his better numbers.

:rotflmao: Thanks so much....Priceless!

This may or may not be an accurate question, but do you feel guys like Raycroft or LaBarbera are "dependible" NHL netminders? They both were rushed to play earlier than they should've and neither have shown consistency since. I get what you're saying in regards to it probably won't crush him, but it will set his progress back if he's shallacked in his short playing time, not to mention it would most likely throw his game off playing much less than he does in GR. That's my point.

F.....I erased this game from my DVR last night and now I really want to watch this. I was trying to catch up to live time because I started watching this game half way through. I must have skipped right over it through my fast-forwarding. *If anyone has this please, please upload it!* Aussie....can you do me a solid and upload it for us?
-
Never once did I say his career would never be the same, but it could very well slow his progress down. That has happened to many goaltenders that are rushed too quickly onto their respective teams. You can guarantee it? Based on what? The Wings' team defense has been beyond rough this season so why do you think they'll magically play stellar in front of a young goalie? Play a little better: sure. Steller: I doubt it. Until this team commits to the forecheck it isn't going to happen.
-
Because its not as simple as just "rewarding the second best".....its about protecting the goalie that could potentially be your teams' future number 1 from a debilitating mental blow. The Wings' defense is horrid right now and calling up Larsson who has zero NHL playing experience could end up being incredibly damaging to his progress if the Wings continue to leave their goalies out to dry.
-
This! If the Wings play with the forecheck they did last year, no one can stop them....not even this high-powered Sharks team.

I'm being ignorant? You know damn well what I meant by "professional" hockey experience. Don't try and split hairs....and BTW, the AHL isn't NHL. If you truly believe its very comparable...watch a game. I think you were too quick to hit the reply button instead of actually understanding what I was saying. The fact of the matter is that while both current Wings goaltenders are struggling, the defense is playing just as porous. Then you suggest bringing a kid up with zero NHL experience to play in front of that? That's a horrible idea for his confidence. By my method? Since when do you know my method based on the single comment I made? Never once have I said a player should rot in the AHL because they don't have adequate experience. What *I* said in my previous post was that sticking a young, unproven goaltender with zero NHL experience into a situation where the defense is playing horrendously is a recipe for disaster. This has to do with how the team is playing in front of them much more so than which goalie to bring up....but go ahead and keep jumping to conclusions that I didn't make.
-
I love all the calls for Larsson with virtually no proof to back it up. The guy has zero professional playing experience and some people want him to be called up to a team thats a Stanley Cup favorite yet its defense isn't playing anywhere near that calibre. Doesn't sound like a recipe I'd wanna make anytime soon.

McKenzie: Sundin likely to sign with VAN or NYR
NeverForgetMac25 replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
God I can't wait for this damn soap opera to be over. I don't even care if he ends up in the KHL, just so we don't keep feeding the frenzy. Signing with the Canucks....what a waste. Like they have any shot of winning the Cup. -
Don't worry....you'll get yours too.

Not to mention NFM picked up 14/22. In the words of Oasis, "Little by Little".....NFM will catch you!

12/13 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Coyotes 4, (SO)

I've been saying this for the past 5 months. How has anyone even tried to turn it around on me? Am I not on this site enough...and I mean it? The Shakrs have that intangible that is not only coaching but experience on the blue line. -

Again, how am I denying anything? Haven't you paid attention to my posts here? Never once have a diminished Mc's role on this squad. He was great and it was tough to see him go to SJ (even though he deserved it). It's just once again people putting words into others mouths blaming things on a new coach that had nothing to do with what's currently the problem. The fact of the matter is people are balming McLellan for our defnese this year when he coach the offense and the PP. MacLean coached the defesne. If anyone wants to complain about a coach, McLellan's loss isn't were to start. -

First and foremost....you must be confusing me with someone else becuae I most certainly have not been saying it will "shake out". All I've been saying is that those blaming the defensive problems on McLellan's departure have nothing ot do with the actual happening. The fact of the matter is this Red Wings team has not played with the hunger (and especially the forecheck) that it did last season. Where did you come up with this last statement? It's completely off-base. -

Do you have any clue that Maclean coached the defense last year? McLellan coached the offense and the PP. But you're smart..right? -

Thank you! But for the rest of you...lets continue to blame it on McClellan who's obviously the glue who held this team together. Get a grip people. -

Aaaah........if only McClellan was here....these late goals wouldn't be burying us!
