The only way Ozzie (or any other goalie for that matter) would've had a shot at that save was if he left his post early, which you're taught not to do. If he cheats and leaves early he gets out further giving the player no high opening, but then as a result he leaves his post and the assist man on that play could've buried the puck. That would've been a massive mistake by Oz. He played it right, it was just a great play.

I'm most certainly not an "Oz defender", but Bulin blew *way* more games for the Hawks against the Wings then he kept them in.

While Oz has been less than spectacular, last night is the first game I recall where a goalie gave up 5 goals yet played incredible. He made great stop after great stop especially when a player got behind our defense. If you look at the goals it shows how well Ozzie actually played last night. Goal 1: 5-on-3 Bang-Bang play Ozzie had no shot Goal 2: Deflected off Lilja's skate and in the back of the net. No shot for Ozzie Goal 3: Another Bang-Bang play similar to the first goal. Again, No Shot for Ozzie Goal 4: Blown coverage by the defense. No shot for Ozzie again. Goal 5: Illegal Goal that shouldn't have counted.

for anyone that is watching the ducks broadcast
NeverForgetMac25 replied to RainingBlood's topic in General
For some unknown reason on DirectTV they only showed the Detroit feed in standard definition (probably had something to do with the game being broadcasted on FSN+). I had to choose between watching the game with the Ducks' feed and their sportscasters in HD or watch Ken and Larry on FSN+ in standard def. I figured I'd watch it on the Ducks feed (simply due to the HD) until their announcers annoyed me beyond what I could tolerate. However the camera angles annoyed me before the announcers even had a chance. I actually watched the game in standard def just to get away from those s*** angles. -
10/29 GDT: Ducks 5, Red Wings 4 (OT)

I'd even love a 1-0 game. Solid D and a timely goal. Here's hoping... -

I don't mind people that aren't optimist (it takes all kinds), but predicting a player to get injured just seems ridiculous. It's like your asking for it more so than a guy going to a feminist rally telling a protester to iron his shirt. -
We would've won some of those games without Hossa.....but your point is taken.

What didn't you get about the point of this thread?

Z finding his rhythm on his new line has been great to see. If they can continue to build their chemistry that line will be a force to reckon with come playoff time. The best part about them being 7-1-1 is that all the players will even tell you they aren't yet playing up to their ability. If they're 7-1-1 when they're "struggling" imagine what they'll be able to do when they start firing on all cylinders.

Who was/is your all time favourite goalie?
NeverForgetMac25 replied to The Secret's topic in General
I don't think I've really ever had one. There are goalies that I think are talented (as well as one's that are humorous given that those guys are a different breed), but other than that I've never had a soft spot for anyone in particular. -
Minnesota at Ford Field is probably the Lions' best chance, but that is not a friendly schedule going forward for them. Thank God I'm a Packers fan. That's rough.

This is the second thread you've started in the past couple weeks stating a player on the Red Wings sucks and nothing more. Just sayin'..........

The first season of the Shootout came after the 2004-2005 lockout (meaning 2005-2006 was the first season of its existance). 2003-2004 was the last season with ties. Back then they had 4 columns to determine your record: Wins-Loses-Ties-OT Loses Wins were worth 2 points regardless of what time they were earned (I.E. Regulation or OT) Loses were worth 0 Points Ties *and* OT Loses were worth 1 Point

There were matching minors that carried over to OT.

The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games
NeverForgetMac25 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
That's the thing though....you're not seeing the game the way the player is with this camera angle. The only way to truly see it through a players' eyes is to be in their body. Even a helmet cam doesn't always show what a player is looking at. As I said, you're at the mercy of the cameraman being behind the play. -
The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games

The angles they used do not allow you to see the plays develop very well. The problem is you've got all these players flashing in front of the play and the puck at times gets lost behind clutter. If you're on the ice playing the game its one thing because you're able to view whats going on and focus your vision to where a play is going, but when you're watching the game from home, you're at the mercy of the cameraman and their distance from the play. Yet another reason I switched to DirectTV. Every game in HD with both home and away feeds. -
That's true, but at the same time exhaustion from his already lengthy career could be a contributing factor to that. You hope that's not the case and that subconsciously he's just getting over the mental hurdle from taking the puck to the eye. Lidstrom has earned the right to be given the benefit of the doubt on this one. He'll get back to where he's used to being...I'm confident. The sad part is our defense has really looked weak compared to the past few years and the Wings are *still* 7-1-1. Imagine what they'll be able to do when the D starts firing on all cylinders. Sorry OP, back on topic.

The wonder that is Mike Sillinger. He's 3 teams shy of playing for half the fricken' league. Seriously....no joke.
-
I seriously wonder about the affect his wearing a visor is having on him. It certainly could be his age starting to catch up with him, but I just don't think thats it.
-
Did anyone else find as much humor as I did in the fact that the Kings were playing Dump & Chase hockey while both teams were skating 3-on-3 to start OT? Seriously...WTF?
-
Not well. He's really having a tough start to the season, but his ability and intelligence will get him back on track sooner rather than later.
-
"Sure, he's a pain in the ass." Nice find.

Z wins it!

Did I call that or what!
