Sammy does shoot too much at the goalies chest, but please tell me about these bonehead plays defensively that he supposedly makes. Sammy is a phenomenal defensive player that makes less mistakes defensively than all but a couple forwards on the roster. He plays the point on the second PP unit for a reason. On top of that, he makes practically nothing and is good for chipping in roughly 40 points a season. Where's the problem?

I really like the Blues thirds and the Buffalo logo is classic. The rest of it is a little too busy for my taste but you gotta love the logo. Some other teams should take some notes from these two.

Thanks to those that have responded. The information was very helpful. I think what I'll do is wait and see what happens with the Detroit Tigers game on Thursday. They are coming to install that morning and if the Tigers game isn't blacked out, than one would assume that I am in the FSN Detroit viewing area, and I'll get the Wings games. Now, if the Tigers game is blacked out, I can't imagine the Wings would be any different, in which case I'll purchase Center Ice Thursday afternoon already to ensure its up and ready to go by the time the season starts. Sidenote: Selkie, I do have the ADC package as you call it . Now that being said, I wonder if *ALL* the games on these networks will be blacked out, thus forcing me to subscribe to Center Ice. If that's the case, I'm just gonna purchase CI as I always do. Technically it states that Northeast Wisconsin is in the viewing area, which Green Bay, WI is. However, it then says "Northeastern Wisconsin along the Michigan border", which Green Bay is not....so again I'm not sure if I'm covered. If anyone knows, I'd greatly appreciate it?

Thanks for the info. I completely forgot the out-of-market blackout. Versus is included and the NHL Network (as previously stated), but I would imagine Green Bay, WI isn't going to be in the local viewing area of FSN Detroit HD (which blows given that the channel is in HD). So if I do have to get Center Ice (which I absolutely will if the games are blacked out) does that mean I still won't get to watch it in HD?

Yes.....in fact, Aussie Wing has been running that game for the last 3 years atleast. I can't imagine he wouldn't do it again.

I find that to be the most ridiculous and laughable concept. Who the hell is it "convenient" for? Ticket Master not needing to hire live phone employees to take ticket orders sure makes things "convenient" for them. Where's the convenience for us that's supposedly worth $5 per ticket?

I'm in no way contradicting myself. Alfredsson, while an elite player in the league is passed his prime and potential upside. Heatley and Spezza are *just* hitting it now thus their higher salaries. You want a hint, how about the fact that he's 35 years old. How old are Spezza and Heatley? Did you conveniently leave that out or just forgot about it? How about the fact that he probably would like to be on a contender and help his team out Cap-wise, ala Lidstrom. Again, a *reasonable* decline in salary is not the same as the league minimum for Teemu. I don't know how to explain that any other way. False. Every player signing holds some bearing on all other signings. Once again, you use averages to define your way of thinking. Yes, the average salary for NHL players is greater than it was pre-lockout, but Teemu isn't your average player. And I stated that the Kariya signing was before the salary cap era. Before that time, it wasn't as big of a deal....now due to the cap, it is. I already explained that too.

Just one, huh? How about the fact that no one of Teemu's calibre has signed for the amount you're suggesting? What would be more convincing is if you named one player of his level that has signed a contract for the league minimum. That would make a believer out of me. You don't see it because if a player of his level tried to sign with a team for a contract as ridiculous as the league minimum it would be nulled before the public/media ever got a sniff of it.

No they wouldn't have, but they would have to pay a "reasonable" amount for him. $7.45 is reasonable for a player of his calibre......underpaid, but reasonable. Stop bringing up the Erat case. The NHLPA's goal is to keep their net worth where it belongs.

Using Lidstrom as your example isn't Apples to Apples. Lidstrom continues to take a home-town discount that still pins him as one of the top paid defensemen in the game. Teemu trying to push through a contract for the league minimum (even though he probably never would) is not proportionally the same as Lidstrom taking $3 million less than what he's worth. As for Kariya signing with Colorado for what he did....that was before the cap when the NHLPA didn't have to "worry" so much about players signing well below their worth because plenty of others were signing for well over their actual value. One guy sliding in there on the other end of the spectrum was hardly enough to raise eyebrows.

As long as the deal mirrors Downey's, I'm thrilled with it. You can never have too much depth when it doesn't count against your cap unless called upon. Hopefully Mac can shake the awful Dallas series he had last postseason and get back into a rhythm of consistent play.
