Hahaha! Not laughing at your prediction that the Lions could go 10-6 or 11-5....the fact that you don't think the Packers will win 12,13 or even 14 games and claim the North.

This back and forth reporting is seriously making what was already a horrible tragedy into something even more unbearable. -

Windsor Star confirmed Salei dead as well. http://www.windsorstar.com/sports/Former+Wings+McCrimmon+Salei+killed+Russian+plane+crash/5364542/story.html Sick to my stomach, right now. I just want to go home and hug my wife and 16-month old daughter. -

Same. This is an offseason no one will forget. -
It's not necessarily a "fact" but it most certainly stands to reason. Well, yeah currently they are since Phoenix filed for Bankruptcy back in 2009. That's essentially what I was saying without saying it. Now that the NHL has seized control of the team and continues to try to find a buyer that will keep the team where they are, technically the NHL does own the old Jets franchise.

Someone made a comment in the earlier Winnipeg jersey thread that said they'd actually have to buy the rights from the Phoenix Coyotes to use the old jersey. On top of that, while most hockey purists (such as myself) would prefer the old logo, creating a new one generates so much extra revenue for the owners. If they used the same logo, it gives people an excuse not to buy a new jersey or article of clothing.

"Who started believing?"

Just slap this image on there and it'll be golden:

No way Winnipeg makes it. Not too many surprises amongst the rest of your list. Carolina & Calgary....meh.
-
Oh good, so were basing a thread on something that would never happen. That make sense for arguments sake.

In a sick way, be thankful that you nor anyone you're personally close to has been through it. It's brutally difficult and practically at all times there's nothing you can do to help. I feel for Rick for having had to deal with this and for it to be so severe he simply couldn't live it any more.
-
I never said you weren't well-adjusted or that holding in anger is a good thing. I simply find it to be misplaced in the case of depression. A few of the closest people in my life have battled depression their whole lives, and I also had a friend who ultimately took his life because he simply couldn't bear to live with it any longer. Like you said, your feeling of anger is perhaps better described as bewilderment. I think that's a much better way of putting it. For me, the only sense of anger I can see regarding this situation would be if Rick had continuously tried to get help for his depression and the system kept failing him because we just don't have a handle on depression the way we'd all like up to this point.
-
Wow, being neg'ed for simply stating that anger or being mad at an individual who takes their own life due to depression is the wrong emotion. The fact of the matter is that sadness is the correct emotion to feel about this. Sadness that Rick was never able to get control of his disease or see a doctor that was able to help. Neg this all you want. That's the truth.
-
Sarcastic? Bottom line is that if you're mad at someone for taking their life when the individual never was able to get control of his/her depression shows you simply don't understand how the disease can fully consume them.
-
If that's your thought process, than you truly don't understand depression. That's not a knock on you, as you claimed ignorance about the disease. I'm just confirming the fact that you don't know enough about it. RIP Rick.

I want to know what the joke was that Dats told the interviewer.
-
Yeah, simple misprint. I kept seeing all the discussion about being an RFA for the next two seasons and slipped.

I think this is the first time you and I have agreed, but this is completely true. An arbitrator will award almost certainly less than what Weber and Co. are pushing for. If Weber's camp is pushing for $8.5, its doubtful the judge rules for anything higher than $8....which Weber is certainly worth . Anything less and NSH makes out like a bandit because they get 2 more years of his services worry-free before renegotiating long-term. NSH's POV right now is why waste money the next 2 years when the judge will almost certainly save them some.

Exactly my point. While Dats certainly deserves it in terms of talent and work-ethic, he lacks the aforementioned which can be crucial before big games.

That's hardly the only reason Z will get it over Dats. That's no shot on Dats, he's well deserving.
