Well, the funny part is the Packers *still* have the best QB in the NFC North. -

A little late in posting this but, done & done! 4 years, $18 million. -
They weren't. All four were against Nashville (Games 1-4).
-
Just think about all those *premium* game fees you'll have to pay!
-
Even with an amazing training camp, I just can't see him playing for Detroit this year barring injuries. The Wings are already in a cap crunch and you can eliminate his $900,000 without worry. To top it off, he can get top pairing minutes in GR and be even better prepared than if he were to get bottom pairing minutes not even on a nightly basis.

Best All-Time Ranking Amongst Current Players
NeverForgetMac25 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Not to split hairs, but by players in the NHL "today" do you mean ones that haven't officially retired? Besides, Rob isn't that good. -
Moen is a career minus player and Ott isn't much better. On a team that hasn't missed the playoffs since before he was there he's barely cracked a plus season.

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008
NeverForgetMac25 replied to timothy1997's topic in Other Sports
I'm not trying to save face one bit. I'm stating mathematical statistics in regards to teams being more likely to win when there are less teams in the league. It's not about having it both ways, its about math. As for you hating Favre....we get it. I don't see eye to eye with you and I'm not about to pick apart the novels you've written because not only has Packer487 done a fine job of that, but you're obviously unwavering in your disdain for Favre so whats the point in arguing? -
They could call it the "Reverse Production" line seeing as that they would get scored upon religiously.
-
What exactly is the bolded comment supposed to mean?
-
The offense looks "great" right now, but they completely neglected their defense. It's gonna be a long season for Ollie and TB's only shot of making the playoffs is to score 7 goals every night, because that defense is gonna give up 6.

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008

Putting a smiley face in the middle of a 10-paragraph rant does not make you sound relaxed. No, I'm really not. I'm saying statistically teams are more likely to win championships with less teams to play against. That's not ripping, that statistical mathematics. Yes, any championship from any era counts just as much as any other, but that doesn't refute what I stated above. How do you feel about Marino? -
This is seriously starting to border on some weird joke that I just don't get. Future Strength & Conditioning Coach: Darren McCarty
-
Agreed. They're on the team one way or another. Who is anyone to tell them whether their justified to touch it given the situation. I think the best answer is that everyone on the roster has the right to touch/lift it, but its up to each individual as to how they want to handle the situation.
-
Apples to oranges....as you noted in the following sentence. I never said that. My exact wording was "if I didn't meet the minimum requirements for getting my name on the Cup, I most certainly wouldn't touch it (or lift it for that matter)." What Meech (or any other player for that matter) chooses to do is their prerogative. Meech is in an interesting situation because he was very close to meeting the minimum requirements of regular season games. Again, what he feels is right is up to him.
-
Technically, they are all there helping the team prepare in the playoffs, thus why they skate the cup. If it were me though, I know I wouldn't touch it. It'd be fun to be a part of it and see the guys first hand like that, but if I didn't meet the minimum requirements for getting my name on the Cup, I most certainly wouldn't touch it (or lift it for that matter). However, to each is own.

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008

That would make a ton of sense actually, but I don't see Thompson moving his first pick ever as the Packers GM. Rodgers is his boy, and I know he's still going to do everything he can to make sure he's starting for the Pack. -

First and foremost IV, you need to relax. I'm not ripping anything past great teams have, simply pointing out the obvious that a team is more likely to win more often with fewer teams to compete against. As for knowing Mr. I, where the hell did you come up with insinuating something like that. Bottom line, aside from Packer487 summing up my thoughts to your response perfectly. You don't like Favre, fine....we get it. Common sense however states that you and Sal may not be correct though. I can show you stats for any great QB that suggests that they aren't flawless. Bart wasn't, nor any other QB. The truth is, for every rough stat you can find for Favre, I can post two for what makes him arguably the best to play the game. You may just have different criteria for that than most people. -
If it comes down to $1.5 million being the difference between getting Hossa and letting him walk, Holland will make it work.

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008
NeverForgetMac25 replied to timothy1997's topic in Other Sports
Icteria virens: Why is it that Favre gets all the blame for those postseason losses? The fact of the matter is that after 99, the team was blissfully mediocre at best every single year until 2007. I've read your comments, but you sure seem intent on blaming Favre for the teams problems yet you struggle to compliment Favre on the teams advances past the Superbowl season. BTW, Comparing World Championships to Superbowls isn't apples to oranges given the amount of teams in the league back then. Does Favre make poor passing decisions: absolutely. However, he's got loads of talent and last season showcased that since he finally got a balanced team around him. -
Yeah, but I read somewhere that Toronto has decided to move on as if he wasn't coming back. I'll look for that source. Found: Toronto Moving On

That's the last thing I'm concerned about.

Good god Icteria virens, upset at Favre or not the last thing he is is overrated. -
Loyalty aside, it certainly makes more sense to pay someone $483,000 and play 82 games than it would $525,000 for roughly 60 games worth of service. The wily veteran argument in this case is a grasp at straws. Again, this wouldn't be an issue at all if Cheli's play warranted his salary and amount of games. The problem is that based on last years performance, they don't and now he'll be a year older. I'm all about loyalty, but how long can you continue paying a player when its not in your teams best interest anymore?

Yet his agent said just yesterday that August 1 was not the deadline and that he'll make up his mind sometime this month. Vancouver Sun As for this comment, edi basically summed up my thoughts exactly.
