Or I (plus a lot of other people) have a different opinion of it than you. Gofigure on a message board. And I'll expect the same when the Ducks fail to make it past the first round or the playoffs for that matter. If the Sharks make it further than the Ducks, I'll expect one back from you. This coming from a Red Wings fan. He's an assistant coach to the Stanley Cup Champions. I would think he knows a little bit about what he's doing given that the team he helped Babcock coach won it all. And then f*cked it up, just like the rest of his postseasons that failed. For the 2nd time now, because Blake and Boyle know how to win the cup! And again, I'll be happy to point it out when the Ducks fail before the Sharks. I'm most certainly not saying the Sharks will win it all, but they will go further this coming season than the Ducks will. And the Ducks will? BTW, I never said they would.
-
TBH, I find this reason to be one of the least difficult reasons of them all. The Wings and the Sabres only had 1-1/2 weeks less time than 2 other teams in the entire league. The Stars and Penguins whom the Wings beat in the final two rounds both were off longer than the Wings were.
-
If will be difficult for the Wings to repeat. It's difficult for any team to win the Cup regardless of who won it before, but that certainly doesn't mean the Wings don't have as good of shot as anyone. However, I'm not so sure Bowman was knocking the team, just admitting that its a difficult feat to accomplish. BTW, I would hardly call the Wings offense heading into next season the greatest in the Red Wings or NHL History. I fear you've opened the floodgates with that and the defense comment.

Behind the Scenes look of Wings Championship DVD

Good thing I canceled my order and ordered it through Amazon. They've already shipped mine yesterday and their tracker states it'll be at my house in Green Bay, WI (leaving from Phoenix, AZ) no later than 7-14-08. -
Maybe a good year away from the NHL will give him the attitude adjustment he needs to give NHL teams some interest in him returning.
-
The problem with that though, is the current CBA may not be extended until well in to the season....if not after the season concludes. While I agree that Ryan *should* play, it doesn't mean he will. The Ducks are up against their backs and losing his salary by dropping him down might end up being the easy route they take. A little off topic, but what they should be doing is moving Schneider.
-
Did I say they weren't Eva? That had nothing to do with my comment.
-
You really want to throw Schneider into the "injured because of grit" category. Good God, go look at how he was injured if you don't recall and tell me that wasn't a fluke. Kronwall was out before the playoffs even started, so you can't chalk him up to being injured by a gritty team (which BTW, was the Baby-Stars in your opinion). Lastly, funny how you mention Pronger ramming Homer, yet he played every single game of that series. Because those players that you just mentioned have not got it done in the playoffs the past few years in a row. The Sharks continue to dominate the regular season and fail to go beyond the second round of the playoffs. Hell, they almost got bounced in Game 7 of the first round. They brought in two Dmen *that have won Cups*, and they now have a phenomenal coach that isn't bust. Speaking of coaches, I haven't heard you recognize that point at all. Why is that? See Above I can absolutely take a joke, and TBH it doesn't bother me as much as it does most others. However calling people retarded, regardless of it being on an internet forum is bad taste. Funny how you make this comment yet no one has agreed or come to your defense. Gofigure. The confidence gained from beating the Wings in Game 4 and then stealing Game 5 in Detroit. Not to mention the fact that he beat the Ooh-so-tough in your opinion defending SC Champions and ultimately made it to within 2 wins of the SCF's. Yeah......what confidence could that be? : A "good" playoff team that can't seem to score goals the entire past YEAR, is going to lose Schneider taking away more offensive weapons (especially on their PP) and now likely without Selanne. Gimme a break. Edit: Addition

That was the reason I initially brought it up. The point is, yesterday the Ducks when signing Morrison were between $57.2 and $59.1 with the *ability* to drop that number down to within $500,000 of the Cap. I probably should've made that more clear.
-
I know that, but my point is why are some extended into the 10/11 season when there is no guarantee the current CBA will extend that long?
-
$4 million.....for his production the last few years. They overspent.

Behind the Scenes look of Wings Championship DVD
NeverForgetMac25 replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
I think TheCaptain19 was stating that he didn't want to buy the Celebration of Champions Box Set in his post. I think the only way to buy them individually is on VHS. If you want them on DVD you have to buy the box set. Amazon has it new for $34.32. -
On the right side of the page. They are listed in the box to the right of the "Salaries By Year" box.
-
BTW, maybe you should start proofreading your posts more. Simply misstating a single point can make you look less credible. Comments such as the Wings losing games 5 & 6 last year against Dallas, when they in fact lost Games 4 & 5 and won Game 6.
-
No, my point was that the Wings were *a couple injuries* away from winning that series. The Wings were the better team and had they been healthy, its is my opinion that they would've moved on. If that were the *correct* case, I would have to agree. However, IMO the Sharks did get better just as the Wings did. My examples don't betray my points, you just fail to see or recognize them. I'm acting superior by making a joke? I was simply just doing that....making a joke. What isn't funny or a way of making your point valid is calling people retarded if they don't agree with you. They're not a mere pretender because Turco now has confidence heading into the playoffs and they have more *balance* than the Ducks. What makes the Ducks anything but a pretender next year? Edit: Addition

While, I'm not saying I deny this, why does NHLSCAP have them listed through 10/11?
-
TBH, I'm not sure. Why does NHLScap.com have performance bonuses listed through 10/11 if they aren't allowed to do so? No doubt NHLNumbers.com is easier to read, but it really bugs me that the site (NHLnumbers) can't keep this stuff straight if thats the case. As closely as I follow hockey and I like to think all my sources are credible, I'm pretty disappointed if this is the case.
-
I don't think so. The Blue Jackets have players that have potential performance bonuses that run through the 10/11 season.
-
Scratch that, EZBAKETHEGANGSTA said we're "retarted" not "retarded". So that must mean at one point I was a "tart" and then someone "re-tarted" me?
-
Yeah, because those hard hitting teams really were effective beating the Wings the past couple years. The Wings beat the hard-hitting, superior goaltending Flames in the 06/07 playoffs, *were a couple injuries away from beating the Ducks last year*, and proved this year they are tougher to play against while frusterating teams in the playoffs that try and play them gritty. Campbell never seemed to be much of an option other than a rental, Blake is still a tough to play against Dman, and Boyle can get the puck up front in a hurry. If the Sharks can score early and often like they had been able to against the Wings in the 06/07 playoffs, they'll be much better shutting down their opponents now with the Blake and Boyle on the backend, and a coach that isn't the definition of a playoff failure. BTW, calling people retarded because they don't see things your way is a great way of getting your point across.
-
Bobby Ryan's numbers aren't included because they are a potential performance bonus.
-
Yeah, *now* they do. They didn't this morning before Morrison's salary was released. At that point, my number was 100% correct. $57.213 million (Current Cap Number) - $2.75 million (Morrison's Contract) $54.463 million Which is exactly what I said this morning.
-
I know this wasn't my argument to begin with, but I'll join after reading this. I literally almost stopped reading the rest of your post after having read the bolded comment. First and foremost, Dallas is absolutely a contender next year and where do you come up with San Jose has only gotten worse? The Ducks *had* the tools to pull the classic Wings upset, but that was before Mike Babcock got control of his team. His first year, I'll chalk up to the players not fully bought in yet, but the last two years the Wings have been a pain in the ass for any team in the playoffs. If the 06/07 playoffs didn't prove the Wings are now fully prepared and capable of beating any team in the league come postseason, than the 07/08 playoffs destroyed that theory. So what if the Richards and Morrow would be our 4th and 5th best forward. I'll flat out say they would be with Z, Dats and Hossa in the mix for the Wings now, but that doesn't mean the team doesn't have depth, played phenomenal *playoff* hockey this past year, and their all-star goalie has now shaken the thought of being a playoff bust. Again, I ask....how have the Sharks only gotten worse? They dump Hanta Yo Baby for the McLellan and bolstered their blueline which was the only other major problem they had. So, how is it that they got worse? While its hard to argue most of these points, you fail to bring up the major discrepancy in offense (and it is a *HUGE* one), the fact that the Wings have now shown they can handle whatever teams throw at them in the playoffs, and a goaltender that is *currently* playing as lights out (if not moreso) than Giggy.
-
I agree that the Stars shouldn't be number 2 (because I believe that spot belongs to the Sharks), but I do feel they belong at number 3. Who do you feel should be above them?
-
Why are they gonna have to do something? To a Red Wings fan that's used to winning.....they should do something, but right now they are above the cap floor, and may just add a couple other mediocre depth guys during the preseason and head into the season with what they have. STL may be more interested in building for their future than an immediate turnaround that will deprive their youth of experience.
