ESPN's Scott Burnside's Instant Analysis
NeverForgetMac25 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
TBH (and as others have mentioned), he's the very definition of a two-way forward. He's great on both sides of the ice, he's a great PK'er and will put the puck in the net plenty on the PP. -
Quotes from Babcock regarding the signing
NeverForgetMac25 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
How funny would it have been if the first thing Babs said was, "Kenny is Lazy and he Sucks!" -
I absolutely love this quote and applaud Kenny for making it. Hossa is great, but no one *on the Wings* deserves Nick Lidstrom. If you want to come to Detroit, you're gonna take less than the best player in the league's home-town discount.

or Jagr.
-
Lilja will not be moved. He just re-signed two days ago, and you don't sign and trade UFA's.
-
That's extremely rich for Avery's production, but the Stars are going to be really good again next year.
-
:rotflmao: WTF Matt....that's hilarious!
-
That's right! I'm gonna look for that post and hold him to it! Edit: Found, it was LDi03
-
BTW, gotta love the TSN headline: If You Can't Beat Them..... It's great to be a Wings fan!
-
Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Franzen-Filppula-Hossa Good luck with that other 29 NHL teams!
-
It's better! This was during the Cap Era, where as in 2001 Kenny could spend whatever he wanted. Kenny just signed one of the top coveted FA's to a freaking 1 year deal after solidifying the best defense in the league just yesterday.
-
As if I didn't already think he was great, this just puts him at a whole other level. .....and during the freaking Cap Era no less!
-
Actually, the Cap is $56.7 million and signing Hossa now leaves the Wings $4.027 million in Cap room.
-
Correct. Looks like Mr. Hossa wants a Stanley Cup!
-
******* MARRY ME KENNY! OMG, this is just unreal!

Holy s***, I'm laughing so hard right now! My favorites are below:

2007/2008 Regular Season Downey: 56 GP, 0G, 3A, 3Pts Laraque: 71 GP, 4G, 9A, 13Pts You tell me which of these players has more skill. Edit: And, no...we don't have Downey, yet. -

*Flashback* It's been a good year or so since we've heard the pitch to bring in Nagy. -
I'm honestly curious. If the Wings could have him for 1 year at $7 million, please explain to me why you wouldn't want him?
-
Yes, 2 minutes before to be exact.

I would tend to agree that $3 million is pretty light for Demitra. I certainly wouldn't mind him for even a little higher than that and a 1-year deal, but I don't see it happening. As for Downey, DMac and Laraque: I believe Kenny already said he's going to offer both of them two-way contracts. The only thing we know for sure is that DMac will be offered some form of a contract given Kenny has stated publicly that he will. As I said, as much as I like Downey, and obviously love DMac, a guy like Laraque offers more and could be had for probably around what DMac and Downey make combined. -

I love the idea of bringing in Laraque at a reasonable amount, and Demitra wouldn't be a bad idea either. I'm not holding out much hope for any more big signings like many here are and that would be a nice lineup that would still leave the Wings plenty of cap room to do as they please at the deadline. I firmly believe family monetary security is the least of Mats' worries. From 1991 up until this season Mats has accumulated $74,042,632.00. No doubt $20 million over 2 years is beyond tempting, but I don't think Mats is too concerned about getting his next paycheck.
