1. The Championship DVD 2. Both Newspapers from the day after the SC win. 3. The SI issue I'm not into a lot of the SC Championship clothing, as its generally a little too busy for my taste. I'm all about simple designs.

Not after the conclusion of this season, they don't. The Rangers have 4 guys up front that were pulling in over $16 million who are now UFA's. There's plenty of wiggle room there to find some new guys, and there's no evidence to show that the Rangers will bring back Shanny for the type of contract he originally signed.

How do you figure that? I would assume this is just your opinion because I can't see any solid reasoning as to why all these players are better defensively than Sammy. No one in their right mind would argue that Sammy is better defensively than Z or Dats (because he isn't), but amongst forwards in the +/- category Sammy was 3rd in the regular season (behind Z and Dats) and 4th in the playoffs (behind Z, Dats and Franzen). Don't get me wrong, a guy like Draper is way better defensively than Sammy, but the point Eva was making is that guys like Sammy will pitch in the more frequent goal while playing solid defensively on a consistent basis. The point is, Sammy is one of the best defensive forwards the Wings have and the numbers more than prove it. If people make the claim that he isn't good defensively, I would challenge them to show me concrete evidence of it, because the numbers absolutely say otherwise.

The greatest thing about this news is that Wilson will bring this team out of the cellar only to fail when it counts the most, thus crushing Leafs fans hopes once again. In other words....great signing, MLSE! Honestly though, bringing in Wilson is exactly what that team needs *at this stage*. While I agree with those comparing Wilson to Schottenheimer, he will be the first piece to really turn around the franchise. The key then will be when to fire him before its too late.

Official: Hasek announces retirement

I read this late last night and immediately began thinking about his career. What a champion this guy was and I applaud him. Congrats on an incredible career Dom! -
No, I won't this Summer but I did see it at the USHL all-star game in February of this year. I was interviewed by local NBC and I said on the air that "hopefully the Cup will be back in Detroit this Summer where it belongs". Looks like I was right!

I'll take that one step further and say the Wings future success looks to be great for the next 5 years. There's going to be room for Z's contract after the upcoming season, and with the emergence of Kronwall being an elite Dman in the playoffs, and Rafalski signed for the length he is, the Wings are in great shape. I don't think Lids will play much more (if any) past his new contract that runs through the next two seasons, but guys like Kronwall and Rafalski being locked in (sidenote: how good is Kronner's contract looking right now?) as well as Datsyuk and Cleary and soon to be Z and Franzen, the Wings are just in phenomenal shape. The Pens have so many questions to answer this summer, and while they'll probably be competitive next year, I question where they'll end up at the end of the next season. Not to be rude, but I just can't see them playing for the Cup again next year given the amount of guys that are UFA's and the raises that are going to be expected.

Honestly, as long as this is a depth move I'm all for it. The lesson that the youth learned last season and the experience they gained from that time all through the playoffs this year, I've become an even bigger believer in letting your youth take over, but having DMac as a #13 guy is beyond solid given the experience he brings to the table. In other words, let the kids continue to play and DMac is a great option given an injury or if someone needs a break due to poor play.

10 minutes only?!?! So how far into the Stanley Cup raising did you get?

So I'm rewatching Game 6 of the finals, and I can harldy hold back my dinner hearing some of the comments the sportscasters are making. Don't get me wrong...I understand the direction the league is going in, but do we really need to hear "impartial" media making comments such as "that should've been an interference penalty" simply becuase a player may have touched a member of the opposition? I fear for the NHL if this continues, because the last thing I want is for this sport to turn as soft as the NBA is, or have to endure the diving we see in Soccer. Correct me if I'm wrong, or post your feelings if you think I'm right. Either way, let me know if you're concerned or not with what I greatly worry about. Edit: (Kelsey) Grammar

I forgot when the NHL became the NBA
NeverForgetMac25 replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
Not really, as the media is just the first avenue into my fears. We never heard the media making comments like they are currently 5 years ago, and I worry what were going to hear from not only them, but the *officials* 5 years from now. -
Actually, DMac played in Games 1 & 4 of the Finals....not just Game 1. BTW, tideysteve....are we clear?
-
Exactly. That's what makes this trophy so great, the history behind the celebration. We all know accidents happen but you still have to take care of the Cup and hold it in the regard it deserves.

Provide an image of it, and I'll put one together for you. Sidenote: The Water Cooler is actually the place to make requests for stuff like this.

Is this like the wiki F'up last year?

Major role in 08 cup = schneider and bertuzzi

By the way GMR......Williams is an UFA. We could pick him up without losing anyone! -

You might as well move Lids for Scuderi while we're at it. Talk about Cap room! -
Best of luck to your Pens next year, unless they play the Wings. They are going to have one of the most intriguing offseasons simply based on their terrifying amount of UFA's.

You know the guy.....the one who's locked up next year for the Ducks for $4 million. That hurts. -
As much as I'd love him to stay, I fear the simple fact that the Wins won the Cup will backfire in his desire to stay here. You couldn't ask for a better, more consistently-winning franchise to be a part of but now that he's got his name on the Cup, and with his desire to settle down, I see him signing a long-term contract out West. Call it a nasty hunch, because I'd love him to stay, but I think he'll get some cash, and make it a long-term deal so his family can be settled. Here's hoping Kenny can reason with him, and explain how successful he'll continue to be playing the role he does on the Wings. He's not a top-2 guy, which makes him a perfect fit for Detroit. Here's hoping he sticks around.
-
Absolutely. I can't believe how much footage we got to see that just wasn't available at the time of the Wings last Cup. What I got see the night they won the Cup and all throughout the playoffs was beyond spectacular, especially for a guy like me that can never get enough hockey.

To me, he's always come off as a family man. I can't remember which media I saw this on because it was about 7-8 years ago, but Drapes kids asked their mom if they could go into the locker room, and she said, "no, that's only at the Joe". I can absolutely see Drapes having his kids in the home locker room as much as possible. Probably not as easy in the road building though.

Hudler has gotta be s***-canned or drank 10 Red Bulls before he got up on stage.

Yeah, totally true.
