Though I mentioned this in the GDT, Shelly and I are making the trip for Game 5. We'll be leaving early tomorrow morning and driving to Detroit to watch the game. We found out we got tickets late Friday night, and have been floored ever since. That being said, we're wondering what goes on in Detroit after a SCF game, and where to go once the game concludes? Is anyone else going that wants to get together for a drink, and whats the place to be at? Also, if anyone wants to meet up during the game, post your seats in this thread, and we'll figure out a spot to meet during an intermission. Our seats are Section 219, Row 20, Seats 9 & 10

The way they were talking this morning it sounded as though Homer was a go. Great to get the confirmation though.
-
Thanks a ton. Shelly and I were still trying to figure out which one to go to and this definitely helps. Anyone else going, and perhaps want to get a drink after the game?

:rotflmao: That's just me laughing at the fact that poor Crosby had his stick tied up and couldn't score. That's gotta be a penalty.
-
Crosby isn't up for the Selke. Z, Dats and Madden are the finalists.

So what did Sidney Crosby really say to Zetterberg?
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Coolio Mendez's topic in General
If you're comparing it to armpit hair, I would have assume you referring to 13 year-olds just starting to spot. -
Agreed, but that has nothing to do with what the OP was talking about. People got all up in arms about how Z and Dats are more complete and better all-around players, yet the OP never once brought that in to question. We all know Z and Dats are more complete players at this point in time, but that had nothing to do with the thread.

While I'm not getting into an argument about knowledgeable fans (because I agree every fan base has their smart ones), this is completely false. had 6 browsers open on ticketmaster when 12:00 ET hit, and I couldn't get a single pair of tickets. They were sold out in less than a minute. Just because some corporate suits don't use their season tickets doesn't mean the game isn't sold out, which it has been the entire finals.
-
Oh, no doubt. I'd take Z and Dats *at this point of their careers* any day over the player Crosby is right now.
-
Dats may have (or be close to) Crosby's set-up ability, but Crosby absolutely doesn't have Z's scoring ability yet.
-
I'm sorry, but I have to call you out here for wearing the rose-colored glasses. To sit here and honestly believe that Z, Dats and Lids are the three best players in the NHL is both ridiculous and the very definition of homerism. I will give you that Lidstrom is the best player in the world, but to argue that Z and Dats are the other two of the top three is beyond debatable. Don't get me wrong, Z and Dats have a solid argument for being in the top 10 but there are so many other great players out there that deserve to be in the category. Even if we're not talking Crosby, what about a guy by the name of Ovechkin?
-
Agreed, in regards to Crosby being the best player in the world. He's obviously more attractive than Lidstrom to teams because of the age difference but if we're talking straight-up best player in the world right now, Lidstrom is the best player. $20 says Crosby would even admit that.
-
Great thought.....care to explain rather than just criticize.
-
Why did he "Fail"? I thought he brought up some great points, but I had a slightly different outlook on the situation.
-
If we're strictly talking offense, I would say Z is the better natural scorer than Crosby. Don't get me wrong, Crosby is probably the better set-up man then Z or even Dats (who is the Wings best set-up man) for that matter, but natural scoring has the scale tipped in Z's direction.

That guy making those 'roids claims is an absolute asshat who's pretentious babbling makes him look worse after each post.
-
I know that.....it doesn't make my statement any less valid. Regardless of it being meaningless, you gotta wonder if some of these reporters are just looking at the boxscore rather than watching the actual game.
-
That's what makes that guy so special. The ultimate team player with absolute skill and passion.

That's good to know about the Waterfront entertainment. Shelly and I are planning on leaving at 6:30 tomorrow morning which should put is in Detroit around 3:00. I'm sure we'll get a bite to eat, and I'd like to go to Hockeytown Cafe or Cheli's Chili but I'm not sure if we'd even get a seat being withing 3-4 hours of puck drop. Does anyone know how early we should be at either of those eateries? Also, we'll be heading to Greektown either before (depending on time) or after just because Shelly has never been there.
-
My wife and I will be there! We're wondering where the happenings will be when the game concludes.
-
C'mon guys....who's going to be there?

:rotflmao: EPIC WIN!

NBC's Powerplay Angle From The Blueline Is Horrible
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Daniel Chosen's topic in General
It's actually a decent angle to see the way teams set up their plays and when the puck is near the blue line, but once the puck gets moved low, I agree that it's difficult to follow. I don't have the anger some here seem to, but I don't think the angle is that great if the puck gets deep. -
While I can't argue this statement, thats Bab's call. If he feels that Ericsson, Quincey or Meech bring more to the team than Lilja, than he'd play them. Don't get me wrong, because I completely agree with infusing the Wings' youth into team, but I trust Babs to make the decision not only about who should be playing each night, but whats best for the team long term (which is a huge part of his job that people forget--not necessarily you).
-
If the signing is near or below $1 million (which it should be) I have absolutely no problem with this signing. Keep in mind that Lilja is nothing more than a bottom pairing Dman on this Wings team, and he's better than anyone else in the number 6 slot.
