I can understand your frustration, but are you really willing to cast aside your team? I get annoyed by some of the new rules (especially the "delay of game" penalties), but I'm not about to stop cheering for the Wings.

mLive just reported that Homer said he'd play tonight if there was a game. I'm fairly confident that he'll play tomorrow, and thus Mac will be out of the lineup.

Also now, they're reporting that the team is required to stay in Pittsburgh for the media to promote the game, same as the Pens were required to stay in Detroit. It makes perfect sense, TBH.

I don't necessarily think he hates the Wings, but he sure has a hard time picking them to go far (or win it all for that matter) until he's absolutely certain it won't blow up in his face. Like in '97 when he talked about how the Wings didn't have a prayer than all of a sudden when the Finals shifted back to Detroit for Game 3, he made comments like he knew the Wings were gonna win it all along. While I agree the guy is just a goofball hockey personality, I just don't care for people that don't give credit until the absolute last moment when it looks like there's no other alternative. Also, it was really funny hearing up until a few years ago how it was going to be "the Kings' Year!"

Of all the media that is out there that can't be trusted, any of Pittsburgh's in this situation are even less reliable. See above.

It looks like he already has if the situation presents itself. Babs did exactly what I would've done. You can never underestimate how valuable a player with experience is in this situation, especially when compared to a kid that hasn't played single NHL playoff game.
