I wonder what this period would've looked like if the Wings weren't on the PK for 18 minutes of it?

It'll be enough to send the fans out the door if they bury one on this PP.

I'm sorry, but I really hope D-Mac sits fo the remainder of the game. It just isn't his night. He's been horrible.

Talk about lack of confidence on the PP right now. Dallas looks anemic.

Mac has been brutal tonight! He really needs to be benched if he's going to play this undisciplined.

All Is Not Well In Hockeytown

The Wings are in a completely different boat than last years Ottawa team. Our defense and goaltending are a night and day difference to what Ottawa had last year. Their defense last year was a joke compared to this years Detroit defense, and Emery fell apart in the finals.

All Is Not Well In Hockeytown

I just wanna say that this post made me feel all warm & fuzzy inside. Kind of like a NN post that tells you before the series starts that Dallas will have to split at home to avoid being swept. Infinite knowledge that NN.

All Is Not Well In Hockeytown

I understand that, but if its bad enough to the point where its making him ineffective than Babs would've switched up the lines to help him out. If he hasn't done that, I would think its not *too* bad. He's not 100%, but most players aren't at this time of the year. He's gotta suck it up and show us the speed he did in Game 1 of this series (which he was banged up for as well). As RS said, I agree that something seems off with Cleary. Maybe its that he scared to be back on a line with Sammy due to what happened before. In all seriousness though, if he's that concerned about getting hit again, then he should wear a full cage. That way he can park in front of Turco with zero fear, which is what we need out of him tomorrow in Franzen's absence.

All Is Not Well In Hockeytown

He's pretty much dead-on. The Wings do need to get some secondary which they became accustomed to this entire playoff run. The Cleary-Filppula-Sammy line absolutely needs to step up and start netting some goals, or atleast create some havoc in the zone while dropping back pucks for point blasts. IMO, Cleary is going to the net but he's not cleaning up the garbage. Franzen has become a master of that as well as redirecting shots. If Cleary can be more physcial down low, I think it solves a lot of the Wings secondary scoring problems. All that being said, the fact that the Wings are at home tomorrow is huge given that they have the last line change. This should give the second line an opportunity to get out there when its advantageous and start potting some pucks. If Cleary gets physical down-low and fights for chances like he did two nights ago on the near-miss, he'll bury one eventually. Also, Filppula needs to continue to use his speed in the neutral zone, and Sammy needs to create turnovers right before the Stars have a chance to enter the Wings' zone.

    Bettman stands by his officials

if both series are done this weekend...

I'm really hoping that scenario plays out because Mrs. NFM#25 and myself will make the trip for Game 5 of the Finals if the Wings are fortunate enough to move on. It would be nice for it to be on a Saturday so we have to use less vacation days.

    Bettman stands by his officials

I completely agree. Bettman knows the wrong call was made on that play, but what do you guys seriously expect him to do or say? To the public, he has to stand behind the officiating rather than criticizing it. However, I would think he would say something to the officiating department behind the scenes. Whether its justified or not, if he publicly second-guesses the officials, it just makes the league look bad.

    The Ice in Dallas...

And even though he wasn't fully up to speed, he looked very good that game. He was a little off, but that's to be expected since he hadn't been playing for months.

Anyone miss the old loose nets?

Sometimes when the puck shoots back out and hits the goalie in the ass, its like a double reminder that he just got owned.

    The Ice in Dallas...

Sidenote: That Zubov to Modano goal you have in your sig was beyond awesome. When I was watching that game, it instantly become one of my favorites of the postseason.

Melrose opinon on the crease goal

Which can only be a good thing. Melrose *only* (and I mean only) gets on the Wings bandwagon when they are about to win the Cup. Good news for Detroit fans!
