Yeah, that one extra game the Wings will have played if they're fortunate enough to advance will be just too much to overcome. (/sarcasm) This coming from the team that has already played 13 games in these playoffs compared to our 10. How did that 7th Game OT exactly hurt them for the next round? Lastly, I couldn't hear the comments to well over the muffled sounds of the 4 Cups Detroit has won while being too old. Basically, this is just the media trying to calm the nerves of scared Canucks fans.

Hoping something wholly unrealistic is not only a waste of time, its pointless. Should I hope Dats re-ups with the Wings when his contract is done for $1 million per? That's as unrealistic as hoping Lids will re-sign for $3 mil. Eva, do you really want me to blast you with the same argument so many other members already have regarding small sample sizes. Besides, that was nowhere near the only chance Hudler ever had to shine on the top two lines. He's been there in his past and while sometimes he took advantage of it (while being aided by playing alongside great players) he's also pissed it away with his poor-backchecking and soft play on the puck. Those two things are recipes for disaster when playing on a line with guys like Pav and Z simply because the opposition typically tries to match power for power. When Huds refuses to back-check and allows turnovers due to his soft play, it doesn't take much for the talent on the opposition to put the puck in the net. That's why he's lost Bab's favor, not because he can't play offensively. Lastly, since you love stats, how about the fact that while he scored those first 12 points, he was only a +1. +7 over the next 14 points is atleast better, but not something to be proud of.

Aw Jeez, not this s*** again. The guy's likely going to win yet another Norris and you expect him to play for less than half his current salary? The top 2 lines would've suffered. Hudler hasn't engaged since he's been back on the Wings....period. Until he proves he can do that night-in and night-out, not only does he not belong on the top 2 lines, he doesn't deserve it.

I know this argument was meant for Aussie_Wing, but I'll in my 2 cents. It has nothing to do with Abdelkader being ahead of Helm on the depth chart. Helm's line with Draper/Miller and Eaves has been so damn effective Babs likes putting them out against any teams fourth line. That's why they're listed as the "4th".

And the Wings don't matchup just as well? Gimme a break. Either team could win this series.

I think the Wings were outplayed in Games 1, 2 & 5, while the Wings outplayed SJ in Games 3, 4 & 6. That being said, Games 1 & 3 were closer than the other 4, with the outplaying team slightly beating out the other. Game 1 was probably more in the Sharks favor than Game 3 was in the Wings favor.

Keep in mind, he also stated Hudler would be moved. That would free up enough space to add the two pieces he mentioned.

Keep in mind, I say this team "needs" nothing, which is different from saying they shouldn't bring anyone else in. There's always players that can be added to help the team be even better, especially if the cap goes up. The point of this post is that right now, with the current lineups in the NHL, this Red Wings team needs absolutely nothing to be better than their opponents. When *this* team plays to their ability against any team *currently* in the NHL, they should win. Now, as far as adding pieces in the offseason, perhaps that didn't come off correctly in my OP, because I certainly want and expect Holland to use up the additional cap space he's given. What I'm saying is that this team has shown they are the most complete team when they play to their ability. My post was more in regards to what this team has shown the ability to do *now.*

We all watched the TSN (Vs.) feed as well and it was insanely loud, hence the thread start by the OP. You must've been drunk or hard of hearing. I just so happened to be at both of those games. The '08 Finals in the last 10 minutes (especially immediately following Raf making it 3-2) were by far louder than the 5-0 win the following year. Both loud, but the floor shook when Raf gave Detroit the lead.

I don't care if former players (who are now league-wide analysts) are fans of certain teams, but it shouldn't be apparent when they're commentating. As far as telling Marleau he's been gutless....he's right.

Who said anything about the players? I said "History", as in something above us all. I.E. I'm pretty sure the universe isn't punishing the Cubs, rather its the players of the past century that haven't gotten it done. Besides, nobody's jumping the gun here....especially not me. Just nice to see a commercial that doesn't show the rarer moments of our past 20 years rather then all that deserves celebrating.

History doesn't believe in jinx's either. Great commercial and its nice to see the league put something out for once that doesn't dog Detroit. Every damn commercial they display shows another team scoring or beating the Red Wings. It's as if the Wings are the other 29 teams' ******* rather than the most successful franchise of the past 20 years.

If anyone is still interested, the rules to the game are located at the bottom of this post. Here are the Matchups based on their respective ranks: WEST: (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (5) Nashville Predators (2) San Jose Sharks vs. (3) Detroit Red Wings EAST: (1) Washington Capitals vs. (5) Tampa Bay Lightning (2) Philadelphia Flyers vs. (3) Boston Bruins NOTE: Please copy and paste the following template when making your picks. This truly cuts down on the time it requires to tally up scores and I greatly appreciate it. Bold the team you're picking to win, and then write the series score directly after in this manner: -- VAN/CHI 4-1 Round 2 Template: ________________________________ VAN/NSH: 4- SJS/DET: 4- WAS/TBL: 4- PHI/BOS: 4- ________________________________ The format this year is the same as last, so please make sure you fully understand the rules below before making your picks. For those of you that aren't familiar with the game, here's how it works: Each round you will pick a winner for each series. For every correct series winner you predict, you will receive 4 points for the first round matchups, 8 for the 2nd, 12 for the 3rd, and 16 for the Finals (0 if you pick the incorrect team, 3 points if you picked a 4-3 series and the other team won in 7 games).
