Why is there a game tomorrow?

:nonono: Sorry OP, but I hate threads like this. All it takes is one win to give a team confidence. Had SJ found a way to bury a goal in one of the OT periods of Game 6 we might be playing them right now even though they were down 3-0 as well.

The Stanley Cup Finals start date is already set (although not released). If the Wings win tomorrow night you can bank on the fact that they'll be off another week regardless of whether PIT finishes PHI off Thursday night or the series extends to a Game 7.

    Stars Game 4 Injury Update

That's not the point. Franzen is out, which is a break for the Stars. Lehtinen is out, which is a break for the Wings. Franzen's status has nothing to do with the break the Wings receive from Jere being out. Edit: I don't mean to come off wrong, but I'm just pointing out that with Lehtinen out it is in fact a break for the Detroit.

    Stars Game 4 Injury Update

http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/ "Looks like Jere Lehtinen will be out for Game 4 with a knee injury. Here's what Dallas coach Dave Tippett said today: "Lehtinen doesn’t look like he’ll be a player tomorrow. Barnes is still out. Morrow and Modano weren’t on the ice today. They should be fine for tomorrow. And Fistric is sick, so that’s why he wasn’t out there yesterday." Another break for the Wings.

Sink or swim time for Philly. If they can muster up a win tonight, I think they'll make Thursday's Game 4 a real battle. If not, look for Pit to finish the series in 4.

    What If.....

At that point of their respective careers, I completely agree. Dom stole Game 6 for us and didn't allow a thing in the Game 7 rout. Right now though, Ozzie looks like he could outplay anyone.

    Stars Game 4 Injury Update

Yes it does. A top-line player with 8 points (4G, 4A) in the playoffs missing in a potential elimination game is the very definition of a break.

    Stars Game 4 Injury Update

Who said I was worrying about the other team? I was simply reporting the Stars Injury situation which is wanted information on these boards.

    Pavel Datsyuk

And the only slight advantage you could give Dats is a healthy back. Dammit, right back to square one. It's a great problem to have two of the most elite players in the world not only on the same team, but the same line continuously pushing the other to get even better than their current top of the game ranking. Scary!

Franzen officially ruled out of game 4

*throws whole pallet of tomatoes* You gotta wonder though if the coaching staff is just keeping him out as a precaution given the WCF's current standing even though it could be something as minor as a sinus infection. I know how that can make your head feel as I've dealt with it in the past, but it sure seems excessive unless he's really struggling with the headaches. Like I said though, its probably just a matter of not needing him right now given that the Wings hold the 3-0 lead more than him not being able to play.

    Dats Third goal enthusiasm

I think you're right too. I questioned that when I posted it. As you said though, it doesn't change the point of the story. Edit: February 14, 2007 - Final Score 3-1 Wings, Smith in net

Franzen officially ruled out of game 4

That's huge! I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he just had allergies and/or a sinus infection. Those can lead to headaches every single day, without showing up on certain tests. Great news, nonetheless.

    Can someone explain..

As in the first goal of Game 4 against Colorado. Granted it turned out to be a blowout, but getting that first goal in a road elimination game is huge. I seem to remember him doing something like that last postseason as well.....oh right, he scored the ONLY 2 goals against San Jose to eliminate them in Game 6 with a final score of 2-0. God, he's worthless.

Where will the Finals Patch Go?

I would think due to the new jerseys we'd see both teams wearing it on the shoulder. If not, I don't think its too big of a deal for whichever two teams make it to wear the patch on different sides should the need arise.

    Sharks fire Ron Wilson

Hanta Yo baby! Anyone with common sense saw this one coming a mile away. That being said, Ron would be a great coach for a struggling team to turn things around, however the key would be to fire him right before his new team makes the playoffs for the first time.

    Dats Third goal enthusiasm

Aside from it being his frirst career hat trick, Dats gets extremely excited when he scores and Z makes a hell-of-a play/assist to set up the goal. Point and case was last year against Dallas when the Wings were down 2-0 only to come back and win 3-2. Z skated with the puck from the right side and looked like he was going to hold the puck and skate around the net. Right at the last second he fed the puck back between his legs (and the defenders for that matter) to an open Dats, who put it in the wide open net since Turco was looking the complete other way assuming Z was going to attempt a wrap-around. Gorgeous stuff, and Dats gets excited when Z makes a play like he did to set up one his goals. Congrats Dats and great game!
