You beat me to it. That was no rebound....just a great play by Dats.

No that wasn't important. It was because everything Franzen touches goes in. He doesn't need the support of 4 players around him to bury any goals. [/sarcasm] BTW, that wasn't a shot at the Mule, because he's been beyond incredible this postseason, but there are other players that have been part of the reason he's buried this many goals, just like with any other player. That being said, no one is hotter than he is right now. Sidenote: Speaking of which, I remember when someone started a thread in the offseason asking for funny pictures of Lang. I posted a "funny" picture of Lang saving the Wings series against San Jose in Game 4. Some people just tend to be sheep. If they see the masses ripping on someone, they follow right along. But haven't played together in a while. What makes you think that chemistry will automatically pick up where you feel its left off. No I didn't. You're reading way to in to things if you feel my post in any way compared Samuelsson's assists last night to the gorgeous back-handed pass Zubov pulled off. Are you seriously going to start splitting hairs like that? There have plenty of cases where everyone on this site has given credit to players for secondary assists that fall under the example you just gave. The point is, that line is clicking right now, the Wings have won 5 straight games, so why in hell would anyone want to change whats working?

Stastny out for series; Smyth doubtful for Game 4

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if *Quenneville* "got checked out" to see if he could give it a go tomorrow against Detroit. He certainly hasn't had any luck coaching against Detroit in the playoffs, perhaps he can as a player. -
Wonder why the play wasn't blown dead the moment the goalie crossed center ice. Hmm.... So, obviously the goalie didn't score a goal.

Thanks for the link. Thats what I was looking for.

Yeah, those two assists he had last night weren't important at all. Of course Sammy is far from the best shooter, but he's been great on his line this round. How can anyone not see that?
-
Osgood is lazy and he sucks!
-
As jdog19 said, the game tonight is in Dallas.
-
As am I, which is why I put a "?" at the end of the thread title, and am looking for confirmation either way from other sites that are more credible.

But that has nothing to do with questioning his toughness in regards to actually playing the game. How he plays it is a whole other discussion. True, but it would also completely change the chemistry of the Wings. Let's just say that Sammy isn't a "Go" tomorrow night. Now, all of a sudden I would assume Cleary would be inserted on the second line and Malts would take his spot on the shutdown line with Drapes and Drake. While Cleary-Filppula-Franzen sounds dynamite, the chemistry of the second line right now is not something that I would like to mess with given that they've won the past 5 games with pretty much the same lineup up front.
-
Agreed. I'll probably re-watch the game tonight from the Forsberg High-Stick through the remainder of Sammy's PT and see if I can notice anything. I'd be very willing to bet if he doesn't play, it'll be due to not necessarily a full on concussion, but concussion-like symptoms. BTW, I'm not sure if you were trying to insinuate anything with your initial comment, but never once did I (or have I) questioned Sammy's toughness.
-
I can't imagine he wouldn't be in given it seemed like he just lost a tooth, and he played later on the ensuing PP.
-
For those wondering about his point production, keep in mind that he was on the second line during the playoffs last year and the majority of this season until he got injured. Now he's on a shutdown line with Draper and Drake. On a line like that, his role is to simply forecheck the hell out of the oppositions top line: which he's done, and to prevent that line from scoring: which he's done. He's not invisible out there, he just isn't scoring as many points as people were used to seeing from him before Sammy went mental on his jaw, but with good reason given the current lines. The second line is firing on all cylinders right now, and his third line is doing its job of shutting down the oppositions top lines. What's the problem here?

nm, question was answered.

It's funny how a week ago today the Wings were Loserville and about to be destroyed by the Avalanche, only to hear a week later that "man for man, (the Wings are) vastly superior." How does that work?
-
If only the Wings didn't suck as much as they did last Wednesday the 23rd!

Wonderfully said. The thing thats so great about what Babs brings to the table is that he's kind of retooled the Wings similarly to what Bowman did. The key to what he's doing is that he came here and didn't throw away the Wings puck-possession game, he simply altered it to fit the style of play he wants his team to be playing. He brought an "undeserving" Ducks team to within one win of the Stanley Cup, and now he has arguably the best team in the league playing a hybrid of Detroit puck-possession hockey and the tough-to-play-against grinding/defensively responsible game he coached in Anaheim. This guy is everything Detroit needs in a coach and as far as I'm concerned, he needs to stay in Detroit for a hell of a long time.

Gimma break.....there was hardly any intent there by Forsberg. Not only will he not be suspended, he absolutely shouldn't. These things happen, and there was no ill-intention on his high-stick.
-
QFT....and I've said that before. You never wish your opponent to win even a single game in your series. One win can turn in to two, and it can snowball from there. Not to mention you're endangering your starters by making them play an extra 60 minutes if not more. Not worth the risk, even with the chance of your team being slightly rusty the following round. I'm surprised SWF hasn't commented on that. He used to have a Spaceballs avatar. That movie is beyond classic!- 433 replies
