Just got in to see the opening act. How did the Pens/Rangers and the majority of the Stars/Sharks 1st period look?

Actually, its extremely obvious I'm not basing my comment on the past 2 games. Compare the goalie numbers for the 2 Detroit netminders versus Colorado's during the entire regular season (not even including the Wings/Avs matchups -- which BTW are the most important and where the Wings goalies have 3 "you know whats" against them). Also, are you seriously going to try and compare the Avalanche defense as a whole to Detroits? Again, I'm not trying to be a homer or even cocky, but the difference (before and after the trade deadline) is huge. You've gotta see that.

That's extremely debatable......actually, that's just not true. I'm not trying to be cocky but the Wings goaltending and defense is far superior to Colorado's and the Avs' offense is only slightly better on paper when at 100%. Also, the key to that last sentence was "on paper".

What makes this hilarious is I was thinking the exact same thing with the way his mouth is positioned. I'll be quiet now.

Wait a minute? Do you have every single game recorded? I DVR every game, but erase them in time due to filling up the hard drive. I'm only able keep the games that are really important to me, plus the last 10-15 most recent games.

He is, but his point is that the Wings have some injuries/missing starters as well. Maybe not on the scale that the Avalanche do, but there's not much to assume the Avs would have better fortunes based on their regular season performance against the Wings. Granted there was injuries there to, but there's nothing you can do about it, just like there was nothing the Wings could do about it last year. You just have to work hard, and if your effort isn't enough to put you over the top, than it wasn't meant to be.

Ok, so we're referring to some pissed off LGW'ers that felt either Zetterberg, Lidstrom or Datsyuk should be given more credit instead of the vast population which was drooling over Sid. I by no means am drooling over him, but I don't deny his talent either. I find it hard to take someone's opinion seriously when they say that the blame should fall squarely on Crosby for not getting his team out of the first round last year. It's a short-sighted, ridiculous claim without any real substance to back it up.

No doubt. Malts has a tendancy of scoring big goals in the playoffs when the team desperately needs them (I.E. Game 1 against EDM in 2006), but you have to let it ride atleast until they lose a game. The key to this is (as you said) chemistry, which the team is really doing well with at this point.

Are you referring to the very beginning of his career, because the team he had in front of him in '98 is quite comparable to the one he has now. That's absolutely no knock on Ozzie, because he has always been very good. The way he's been playing the past couple years....he's been great.

Osgood is a selfish player who only cares about himself. Seriously, that guy is incredible.

I couldn't agree more. I'm just surprised no one else brought it up. If the Wings continue to win, there's no reason Maltby should be reinserted into the lineup.

I don't think its that no one cares, its just that chances are a thread wishing Happy Birthday to Lids is probably going to fall on deaf ears. Of course, I wish him a happy birthday but I highly doubt he (or anyone from his family) is going to see this.
