Sidenote: I love when people use the phrase "such-and-such million reasons". Technically, Burke makes a hell of a nice salary and while I'm not sure the amount (lets just assume $2-$2.5 million per year), wouldn't it make sense to to say "MLSE gives Burke $12-$15 million reasons to leave Anaheim" since that's the amount over what he's already making? Hard to count the amount of money he's already making as "one of the reasons".

Agreed, but it seems to be more of a general rule. As I said, I've noticed plenty of times where coaches just shake the hands of the other coaching staff after the conclusion of a series in the early rounds. As they get deeper in to the playoffs though, you almost always see the coaching staff shaking hands with the other team.

Perhaps, but the "added motivation" part is what through me off. The Wings haven't beat the Avalanche since 2002 when the rivalry was still going on. If those two teams were to meet in the next Round I highly doubt either of them would have more motivation based on past series' outcomes. The Sharks or the Flames on the other hand, would.
