Exactly. The Wings had plenty of cap room even after the Trade Deadline and will be able to cover his bonus against this years cap as well as Cheli's $300,000 bonus. The only one this should upset is Illitch.

Or an extra day of rest. The Wings/Preds series was the only one that had a straight "day-on followed by a day-off" format all they way through Game 7 (had it been necessary).

If that line stays together, it would be great to see them chip in the odd goal here and there. Those are the types of goals, from those types of lines that you need to be successful in the playoffs. With the return of Maltby, it should be real interesting to see how Babs handles the change.

This was the dumbest IMO. Granted, he did try to move him, but his asking price was way too high. He's a genius idea Burke...lower your asking price instead of just waiving him.

Everything seemed plausible until that last paragraph. Then the whole article became questionable. That being said, no player IMO that is under contract should be able to come back midseason (after "contemplating" retirement) and not have the full cap hit take affect. I have no problem with it happening this year as Burke did nothing against the rules (he found a loop hole--can't fault him for that), but going forward this should be addressed to prevent more and more players from doing this sort of thing.

Well, they achieved something Nashville didn't. Of course its not the end goal, but there's no reason not to throw a quick congrats to the Wings. They turned the series around when they needed to.
