I'm not knocking him at all. I give him a lot of credit for his maturity in the coaches decision. While I can understand why some people might be frustrated that Dom made those comments since they remind people of Manny, I still think if Dom gets the call again this post season, he'll step up and the team will around him.

I love how this thread pops up every year. It seems we have a lot of members that really enjoyed that.
-
Well, I look as those people as erratic and ones that let their emotions get the best of them. Most solid hockey minds will tell you that Dom absolutely should've started Game 4. That's why Babs had him in there.
-
That's not true. The fans don't give Dom the credit he deserves, but his teammates absolutely do. Just today Drapes said that it wasn't Dom's fault.
-
I'm sneaky like that!
-
Yeah, I misread it and made my edits.
-
I don't think anyone's arguing that Dom shouldn't have gotten the start for Game 4. Game 5 is a different story. .....And BTW, I completely agree with you in regards to giving Dom the chance last night to prove whether he could or couldn't do it.
-
Really, you want to see the Sharks win? I much prefer Calgary and I'd also like to see Washington win.
-
I couldn't agree more. In the past, I could definitely see Dom throwing a temper-tantrum and being a distraction, but he has really changed since he came back last year. I'm extremely impressed with his attitude, and I hope he stays sharp if needed.

Yeah, because Hossa is money in the playoffs! Hossa just got his first goal the other night in his last 2 post seasons. Last year Z had 6 goals and 8 assists in 18 games. How is that "not performing" in the playoffs. Great trade idea.

I'm not saying he was great last night, but all of those rushes there wasn't a Red Wing within 10 feet of him, and he had no other option. If you recall, he did split (and fought through) two Dmen a month or so ago only to score the games first goal with around 5 minutes left in regulation. The thing is, he tried rushing in on multiple defenders when the Wings were on a line change. It wasn't as if he was being a puck-hog and didn't want to pass. He probably just wanted to see if he could create something out of nothing or hold on to the puck until the line change was complete and then make a pass.

Not to derail the thread, but I just don't get it.....what does Downey bring to the table that is better than Mac at this time?
-
That being said, I don't like that Bab's announced it. I wish he would've waited until tomorrow night so the Preds didn't have time to prepare for him.

Can't say I'm upset. Go get 'em Oz!

The motivational speech for the Red Wings

SOB.....I thought this was going to be "Hanta Yo, Baby!" -
Because the Wings MO is to get shots on net from all angles in hopes of getting a rebound. Sometimes it works, but more often than not any goalie will cast those shots aside, thus inflating their numbers. It's just the way the Wings try to score their goals.
-
No it wouldn't have. That miss last night from Drake was no more crucial than Z missing a couple layups, or Sammy not corralling the puck and getting a shot down, or Dom struggling with his vision on the point shots.

If we lose this series, will Holland be fired?

Seriously.....where does this stuff come from? -
This is exactly why I avoid the GD as much as possible the day after a Red Wings loss.....the rational thinking just isn't there by a solid amount of people.

When I noticed the start time for this game a few days ago one thing came to my mind immediately.....carry-over. If you look at the programming guide for Versus you'll notice they're showing the NJD/NYR game from 7:00 ET to 9:30 ET, while the Red Wings game starts at 9:00 ET. Basically that means we're going to miss *at least* 22 minutes of the game plus the chance of a lot more if the game goes to OT. Now, I have Center Ice but I can't imagine they would play the game on one of those channels even given the situation at hand just to cover the difference in start times, but does anyone else have a suggestion or know how Versus is going to handle this? Is it as I feard? If so, does anyone have a link to the Yahoo! Sports player that sometimes plays the game, if they're even playing it?

Just what this world needs....a few more weirdo perverts! How messed up woud that be to see something like that at the Joe. I'd be outta that section so quick. -
I'll tell you right now....the answer is zero, because he's not playing tonight.
-
He threw one last game and it costs the Wings the tying goal. I'm all for laying a guy out, but not when it puts your team at a defensive risk.

Tonights Wings Game...Minus 30 Minutes!

To top it off, I bet both New Jersey and Nashville will get a win during those time slots. I bet Avery does something during the game that gains attention by sportscasters league-wide. Bank on it.
