Quick piece of advice Caly....skip the at the end of your post. It doesn't church it up any. That being said, I for the most part agree with you. Fans of every team in the league think practically every ref is "out to get" their respective team. The fact of the matter is that every team gets bad calls and plenty often, but the majority of fans only recall "bad" infractions against their own team and somehow magically forget the ones that their team is awarded. The point is....yes, the Red Wings have had some bad calls against them this year (I.E. most notably the Sharks off the netting goal), but every single team in the league has just as many bad calls against them. The refs are doing the best they can within the guidelines they are given. I'd like to see anyone try and do a better unbiased job. Lastly Caly, my comment about McCreay stands though. That guy is the best ref in the game as far as I'm concerned and its so few and far between that a poor call ever is made when he's in charge.

What I mean is that his talent has been there even with the small frame he started out with. Z excelled at defense from the moment he got on the Red Wings roster, and has increased his offensive numbers to match the skill he plays defense with. Most players with the offensive instincts he has come into the league with the exact opposite approach. Top that off with being the unheralded player on a team full of stars, where he may have (and probably would have) shined from the moment he took the ice given guys like Yzerman, Shanahan and Hull weren't on the team. In regards to the second part of my comment, its more in regards to the way he handles being "famous" and a superstar. I've never heard of someone before that states that they're happy that they can go out in public and not be recognized, but would have no problem with it if they were. The guy gets hounded in Sweden during the offseason, and doesn't get much recognition in metro Detroit, yet he doesn't mind either way, and would be more than happy if he was hounded. It's just a very relaxed personality you don't see very often in professional atheletes off the ice (or field, court).

TBH, I'm not worried about that one bit. Z loves it in Detroit, the cap continues to rise and the Wings have the room to sign him to Datsyuk+ type of money ($7-$7.5 million). That being said, I could easily see Z being persuaded into taking a Datsyuk type contract with a similar term. 6 years, $7-7.25 million per. Get it done.

Sammy being back in the lineup compared to some of our 4th liners isn't bad like some people make it out to be. I'd take him anyday over a guy like Drake regardless of their different roles on the team. :rotflmao:

There should be absolutely no question as to who sits between Lebda and Lilja. Lilja is a better all-around player, is a great shot-blocker and is exactly what a team needs from a bottom pair guy: Reliability. Lebda is anything but.

I would agree, and that was the point of my statement. If Tootoo starts with the garbage, its best to nip it in the butt right away before the Wings start to let it consume them. The more annoyed he can get the Wings, the better it'll end up being for the Preds.

While Tootoo is beyond an idiot, I'm really hoping the presence of the guys you listed is enough to keep his head somewhat on his shoulders. I think the key to that happening is nipping garbage in the butt immediately before it escalates.
