I'm sorry, but I couldn't disagree with the bolded statement any more. While the Capitals have played great hockey the past couple months that doesn't mean that they deserve to make the playoffs. Simply put, they were not a good team the first 4 months of the season and to say they deserve to make the playoffs simply because they've been great the past couple months isn't right. The fact of that matter is that 8 teams from each conference make the playoffs and that's plenty as it is. If Washington wanted to make/guarantee the playoffs they should've played better throughout the season, not just the tail end of it. I'd love to see the Caps make the playoffs and it would be a blast to see how AO plays in the postseason, but I'm not going to be heartbroken if they don't make it because if they don't they have no one to blame but themselves. It's not the leagues fault, too many teams already make it.

To me, the whole "choosing your opponent" just seems like a bad idea. Who gets to make the decision on which team you want to play? Coach? GM? Other? Also, picking your oponent just adds fuel to the fire of the team you're playing. Lastly, how would each subsequent round work? Top vs. bottom or re-pick again?

To me, those people are fools. My wife and I don't have kids yet, but there's no place I would rather be than with my wife while our child is being born. I question the values of those that think otherwise, regardless of having children or not.

Well, I suppose that depends on your definition. If we're going by softest contact, than Floppa wins hands down. If we're going by embellishment, congrats to Avery....he's still number 1.

That wins.....the number 1 dive I've ever seen in my life. I've never seen a guy dive when he literally wasn't even touched by a stick. I've seen soccer players that would be embarrassed to see a dive like that.

Regardless of the Ducks talent after the second line their team is "built" for the playoff grind. They know how to play in the postseason to be effective, and they've got a goalie that absolutely shines onces April comes. Is there a chance they'll be knocked out before the Wings....absolutely (escpecially if they meet up with the Sharks in round 2), but keep in mind that the 6 seed will have to upset the 3 seed in order for the Wings/Ducks series to be pushed back until the conference finals. If the 3 seed beats the 6, it will be DET/ANA in the second round barring upsets. Edit: (Kelsey) Grammar

The NHL says that. The game is being pulled by the NHLN for those in America. Center Ice or not, if you don't get NHLN, you're screwed.

Next Sunday's game is on NBC. This Sunday against the Preds the game is on FSN-Detroit.

This just pisses me off. I'm the biggest Mac fan in the world and the game he comes back the f*ckin' NHL Network pulls the game. Such BS!

Personally, this is my favorite part: The Red Wings actually have been average against Central Division teams this season (13-11-2). The Wings DOMINATED the Northwest this season (15-2-3) and went 15-5-0 against the Pacific.

Sidenote: Matt usually makes an initial playoff bracket for the 16 teams that make it. The one he made last year was beyond pimp.

Sure I can do playoff bracket graphics, but keep in mind that an NHL playoff bracket doesn't work like the NCAA Basketball Tourney. Since teams are reseeded after each round, making a playoff bracket generally doesn't look to pretty after even round 1.

Bingo That's the key, the NHL gave the Oilers the chance they don't deserve. That being said, EDM took full advantage of it.
