I don't think we need to throw anyone under the bus either, but how can you not include Lebda in your list of Wings that are playing poorly lately. Lebda hasn't been close to solid.

Honestly, the reason the Wings are in a "slump" is because their passing has become tentative due to solid forechecking by our opponents. It has nothing to do with Cleary being out (that doesn't help, but its not the reason), it has nothing to do with goaltending, and even our defense. I've said this before, the way to beat a puck-possession team is to forecheck the hell out of them, and prevent the breakout pass out of the zone. If you pinch on the players with the puck instead of trying to play safe defense you'll have more luck against a puck-possession team. What the Wings can do to remedy the situation is to in turn forecheck the hell out of their opposition. Whichever team can establish that first will have the upper hand the majority of the game. If the Wings are the ones that are able to establish it, no team in the league can skate with them.

I used to hold so much hope for Lebda, but I've really lost it this season. I feel he's one of the most expendable players on the team and we'd be able to fetch something decent in return with some players/picks thrown into the mix. Move Lebda and a player/pick for a solid top 4 defenseman. Move Hudler, prospect and a pick for Hossa. Move another pick/prospect for defensive depth.

It's like I've always said, the way to solve the puck-possession game is to forecheck the hell out of your opponent. The teams that do this against the Wings are the ones that come out on top. When the Wings forecheck like crazy and their passing is on, there isn't a team in the league that can skate with them. Unfortunately, that's not how they're playing tonight.

As I said, zero fluidity and tentative passing. With each passing moment the Nashville forecheck gets stronger and the Wings are playing with no confidence.
