You're right, I must be on drugs [/sarcasm]. BTW, can you tell me which team has the best record in the playoffs since 2003? I'll give you a hint, its not the Wings. Instead of looking at the standings and making comments solely based on them, you might want to take a look at the core of the team, and the way they step up in the playoffs. It's the same crap some fans here spew about Giguere. We hear stuff about how he's the Michelin Man and how gets blown out one night every two months. The truth of the matter is the guy is an absolute beast come playoff time and simply shuts teams down. 18 ranked defese? Again, look past the freakin' numbers and actually analyze why they're where they are. To begin the season Nieds wasn't there and Schneider was hurt. Time to step away from the NHL.com stat machine and start learning the game.

Not to extend this thread because there's already one out there with this information, but there is absolutely no comparison between the Ducks this year and the Predators last year. If Forsberg joined them, regardless of the games not being played on paper, they are terrifying.

Actualy, that was her first time playing hockey, but she's skated before. We were just screwing around in that picture. You can tell because neither of us have our lower hand in the correct face-off position on the stick, nor are we standing correctly..

This is where I go to play hockey 3-4 times a week. The rink is located right behind where these pictures were taken. Where Shelly and I are skating is a slab of ice directly behind the rink (notice the rink right behind us in the "Mr. & Mrs. NFM#25 face-off" picture) with a goal at either side. Usually I jump right into the pick-up game, but when she comes with me I skate with her until she gets tired and then I go play in the pick-up game. Here's the problem with this stat: It "penalizes" teams with a huge +/- in the GF/GA category, and rewards teams that are constantly in close games. For example below is the Ranked list by "Clutch" Factor, but I've also included their team GF/GA +/- number: 1. Iginla 1.09 >>> -1 2. Thornton 1.07 >>> +13 3. Ovechkin 1.06 >>> -14 4. Getzlaf 1.05 >>> -7 5. Kovalchuk .98 >>> -29 6. Crosby .98 >>> +11 7. Lecavalier .93 >>> -24 8. Zetterberg .86 >>> +70 9. St. Louis .80 >>> -24 10. Alfredsson .79 >>> +26 Take away Kovalchuk and no player in the top 6 has a team +/- greater than 14, while no one in the bottom four is within 24 of an even +/-. Is it fair to call guys like Zetterberg or Alfredsson not "clutch" simply because their team defense puts their team +/- number nowhere near the midrange teams? My main point: Part of the reason these players score "clutch" points as they discuss is because they aren't playing "clutch" defense to go with it, thus causing the game to be tight. Sorry, but I'll take Z and Lids scoring goals early and then playing solid D the rest of the way any day over this "clutch" factor.

That sucks. Adding a guy like Forsberg would've been huge given the circumstances. Those that are making comments insulting him would praise any Red Wing who told the Avalanche "no" due to the old rivalry had Colorado been one of the front runners for their services.

What happens if we lose 2 of our top-4 Dmen after the deadline like last year? Sure everything looks fine right now, but there's no reason not to bolster your lineup given the grind of the postseason (especially in the Western Conference).

Exactly I think it all goes back to what *your* definition of MVP is? League MVP or Team MVP? If its League (like mine is) it should be Lidstrom, no different than it was Brady over Favre.

I disagree. While Z and Dats are elite players in this league, Lidstrom is on a different level than anyone as far as I'm concerned. Does anyone remember when they interviewed Crosby two seasons ago and asked him which player in the league that he's plaed against is even better than what he thought before joining the NHL ? His answer: Lidstrom. Losing a guy like Z or Dats would be crushing....losing Lidstrom would be apocalyptic.

I think that all depends on Z's next contract. If he's signed long-term (which I can't imagine he wouldn't be), IMO its going to be him. Dats is locked in, now its up to Z to commit....and that's where that statement probably stemmed from.

To answer your question, didn't Mac sign a PTO contract only? I'm not even sure if that means he can be called up at this point.

As most people know (if by nothing else my s/n) I'm a huge Mac fan. That being said, people.....you really need to slow down. Mac is nowhere near being ready to play for *this* Red Wings team nor practically any team in the NHL. He's not in NHL shape yet and would struggle to keep up to speed. Let him play in Grand Rapids for a while and see what happens, but people really need to keep their head on their shoulders with this one. The Mac of the past isn't the same as the one that's here today, *yet*.

Seriously......Dom deserves the number 1 star of this game. Any goalie that can stay awake after fending off only 4 shots after two periods while keeping the game scoreless earns NFM's MVP award.

The last few times we've played Colorado with Budaj in net he's been solid. He seems to get up for these games. Budweiser here, but I'll probably mix myself a nice Jack & Coke or Bombay Sapphire & Tonic after this period.
