I'm sorry, but why in gods name do you think the Leafs would take Samuelsson for Antropov straight up? This isn't meant as a shot at Sammy, but he's not in the same league as Antropov....nor is Hudler.

I'll have to do some digging, but I believe his agent was quoted saying that Forsberg wants a multi-year deal.

But the risk in that is the players the Wings will have to give up in order to acquire Sundin or Hossa. Besides, Forsberg won't command much of a salary. Even with him, the Wings will still have roughly $4.3 million ($11+ million in non-prorated salary) to spend if they so choose.

Keep in mind that the price goes down the closer you get to the deadline. There will be overpayments, but there will also be underpayments as well.

I completely agree with ARice on this. I've been saying all season that adding a guy like Forsberg is the best option for the team. Vitrually no risk, with the potential of very high reward. People just need to get past the old Avalanche sweater because there's no legitimate reason not to take a chance on him.

I would assume wingsfan40 was referring to the non-prorated figure. Meaning the Wings can sign players with a yearly salary totaling $14 million come the trade deadline. Its been reported that Forsberg is looking for a multi-year deal.

QFT Look at how bad the Wings looked the first couple periods against Phoenix, and that was only a week layoff. This would not be an advantage in the playoffs.

The Wings played a better all-around game last post season. Was Dom part of the reason the Wings made it as far as they did? Yes. Was the rest of the team just as responsible for their long run? Yes. It's purely reciprocal. Scoring is always down in the post season . It's got to be a healthy balance. In order for teams to move on in the playoffs, a goalie needs a better SV% and GAA than they had in the regular season, and the rest of the team has to chip in with timely goals. It's not one or the other....its a combination of both. The teams that win the Cup are the ones that are able to accomplish this.

Huge relief! That being said, this shows how badly Kenny needs to make a move for a defenseman next month.

BTW, if Hasek "sh*ts the bed" as you say, wouldn't Ozzie only need a room temperature hand to be an upgrade? The fact of the matter is that the name Hasek does strike more fear in the heart of other players, but it doesn't mean much if Dom is off his game, and Ozzie continues to play as consistently as he has been. Regardless of what other players think of Ozzie when they're skating in, all that matters is whats going on in Ozzie's head. Right now, what seems to be going on is "Nobody's gonna score on me tonight". His record proves that this season. That being said, I'm more comfortable with either goalie tending net than I have been in years. I don't mind if Dom is the starter come playoff time. The only thing I want to see is no matter which goalie gets the nod, they better play beyond stellar because I would think either guy would be ready to step in at any time.
