So now you're blaming the defense? I thought it was Howard that was the problem. Make up your mind. Sidenote: Aside from +/- Lids is on pace to best his 07/08 season. Keep in mind that number this year hasn't been what it normally is due to the shuffling of his partner quite often.

Do you think Babcock will ever win the Jack Adams Award?
NeverForgetMac25 replied to a topic in General
As long as Kenny and Co. continue to assemble rosters like they have, he'll never win it in Detroit regardless of the fact that he's the best coach in the NHL. -
I just dug a little deeper and this article released by Freep is much more disturbing than what was initially diagnosed. If this turns out to be true, 2 months will be the minimum.

While I understand these types of injuries can be career threatening, all the credible hockey articles we've read have said 6-12 weeks. This is a CNN article about "Tuesday's Intriguing People." I'm gonna trust mLive, TSN and the other sources that follow it a little closer and not speculate based on a comment Modo was likely just stating in general.
-
What do I think? I think you're jumping the gun far too much on an injury that's projected to last 6-12 weeks. That could potentially mean Modo's back before the end of next month, which would give him 3.5 months to establish chemistry with his linemates.

^ Exactly! Completely agreed.

^ You mean one or two more moves once Sturm comes back. From what I gather, this move alone makes them cap compliant for Savard to return.

That could be one of your most clueless responses I've ever read. I don't care how talented a team is, if they're in the NHL....there's talent. Some obviously greater than others, but teams do have bad nights and make mistakes, players get bad bounces, take ill-afforded penalties, get poor matchup's at the wrong time, etc., etc., etc. There's a million reasons a team who's clearly superior to their opponent *at the NHL level* would lose. Trivializing it by stating its simply "trying to do enough to win the game, but not too much" is absolutely ridiculous. It's one of the last reasons a team as talented as the Wings won't blow out their opponent night-in and night-out, which is again....the whole point of my initial post.

I completely agree. That's not what I'm talking about though. The point is that some people here need to have their cake and eat it too. The fact of the matter is that while the Wings are likely the best team in the NHL this year, it's not as if they're going to run over every opponent every single night by a score of 6-0. They're going to win more games than likely any other team in the NHL, 1/4 of those at most being blowouts (3+ goal wins), while the rest are going to be 1 or 2 goal victories. That's my point.
-
Like they haven't done that a handful of games already this season. Not only can a team not win 'em all, you can't expect to dominate *on the scoreboard and off* half as many with the talent at this level of the game.

16....finally a decent showing! I've been brutal this season.

Fleury pursuing charges against Graham James

^ Yes. Read the beginning of the thread. -
Pav is finally using his shot and Hank is passing better than he ever has. Logic states the pair is better with them both being shooters and passers rather than one or the other. Hank's game has evolved and so has Pav's. Balance between the two will be far more effective than the former scenario.

That's the thing though...with the current state of the team, he doesn't need to be 42-Goal Z like he once was. This is by far the most balanced and potent team the Wings have had since the lockout, and with that comes reduced ice-time for stars simply because its not needed. Guys like Z shouldn't be getting insane amounts of minutes as long as the team stays healthy and continues to get balanced scoring. We all knew coming into the season that the Wings were deepest team up front and its showing. Babs isn't about to overly stick Z out there to pot a few extra goals because it will wear him down in the process. The more leads the Wings rush out to, the more were going to see the 3rd and 4th lines, and with good reason. In fact, I'm quite impressed with the Z-D-H lines' production thus far *given* the balanced scoring attack the Wings have shown these first 16 games.

When it comes to mindfly, unrealistic expectations are the norm. The Wings are 12-3-1, which is good enough to statistically be the best team in the NHL, they've played extremely solid the past 8 games and even last night found a way to win when they played awful for 50 minutes of 60. mindfly is the type of fan that when his team wins 9-1, he ******* that they didn't get a shutout.
-
Uhhh....you do realize he was on the Cup winning team in Detroit in 2008?

Are the lines listed in the OP what Babs is starting the game with or has anyone seen the latest line predictions for tonight?
