Nobody? "You" also lost to them earlier in the year, but conveniently left that out. On top of that, Detroit beat them the very next game after St. Louis did. It's not like they were world beaters before that *second* STL game and that did them in.

So does anyone else hope Lidstrom comes back next season?
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Reilly's topic in General
A more effective question might have been, "Does anyone *NOT* hope Lidstrom comes back next season?" This would've been the first poll question on LGW that finished with 100% one way. -

No one should argue they haven't been brutal defensively these first 6 games, but I was referring more to the offensive side of things. True, even if they are putting the puck in the net on the front end, its more detrimental if they can't keep the puck out of their net, so obviously its something to keep an eye on. I just feel there's too much talent on this third line playing against other teams' thirds for it not to work itself out. As long as the Wings are winning and the other lines are clicking, its something that "isn't an immediate need" to switch up.

QFT ....and you're right in saying he's probably trying to be as unselfish as possible on his new team. If there's one thing Babs has always impressed upon his players with an actual shot, is to simply "shoot the puck." I'm sure Modo will start to more and more as he gets comfortable.
-
He's really not the problem. The big thing is they just don't seem to be clicking and you can't break up the top 2 lines given their success at this point. As long as the Wings are winning, Babs should ride it out and continue to give them a chance to get used to each others' tendencies. There's too much talent on that line, especially given teams are matching up bottom 6 against them for it not to break out sooner than later.

By any chance does anyone know the font the Red Wings use for the player name and number on the back of their jerseys (or something thats close to it atleast)? Thanks so much in advance.

I remember this piece of comedic gold when the Leafs signed him: "Leafs give fans the Finger. Sign no-name to massive contract."

I forgot about the uber-early start. It's 1-1 now....let it stand.

It's been far too long since I've posted pics of Kate. Here's a couple of her and I from last night, while she was sporting her new pumpkin hat.

Lilja gets training camp invitation to Sharks
NeverForgetMac25 replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Oh I completely agree. Anyone on this board that couldn't/didn't see how effective Lilja was in his role for the price tag we had him for is off their rocker. Now that being said, I understand the hesitation on Kenny's part to offer Lilja what he was looking for given not only the fact that they brought in Salei for less then what he was looking for but also due to Lilja's concussion situation and the potential problem it could present. Had Lilja never gotten that concussion, I could very-well have seen Kenny re-signing Lils for his standard $1.25 million. As far as Lilja saying, "See? I was worth SOMETHING good," I don't believe Kenny didn't think he was worth something good. I just think his decision to offer what he did was solely based on the questionable status of his health after his year-long layoff from a concussion. Basically, if Kenny felt he could bring in a replacement that would be similar to Lilja's ability, veteran status, and for the the same amount (or slightly less) money while at the same time not having to worry about the question marks surrounding his concussion.....he would "jump in it." -
Lilja gets training camp invitation to Sharks
NeverForgetMac25 replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Apples to oranges. Lilja is the better player at this point, but he's almost a decade older than Ericsson. Retaining E isn't just about this season and how he would stack up against Lilja in SJ. That being said, I do wish Lilja all the best. I've been one of those people supporting him a year or so before it became trendy on LGW. The guy is as solid of a bottom pairing guy as a team in this salary-capped NHL could get. -

Two quick ones, makes it 3-1 Red.

How's everyone's buffer working? The audio is solid, but the video seems to "freeze" for a second every 10 seconds or so.

Quick question? What's with the font used on the players' nameplates?
