    Leafs offer Tavares contract

True, but if something like this goes through it will change the way GM's pursue prospects. As a result the draft wouldn't be as legit if this became common practice.

    Leafs offer Tavares contract

True, but it still affects the way a player enters the league, which I'm sure bothers atleast a few of the big wigs. Hard to think that it won't be at least discussed.

Hasek (sore hip) OUT, Howard IN

Unfortunately, unless the Griffins are playing the Admirals I don't get to see them play. Even when they are playing each other there's a 50-50 chance I still don't get the game.

Hasek (sore hip) OUT, Howard IN

Those numbers (coupled with the 3-1 record) suggest that Grand Rapids needs some work on their defense. The offense and Jimmy's 0.902 SV% sound like they're carrying the team.

    Leafs offer Tavares contract

Interesting to say the least. Another loophole that will be addressed at the CBA renegotiations.

Leafs looking at Holland as new GM?

The MLSEL had a better chance of landing Bowman than they do Holland.

    Eric Lindros Retires

Exactly, he's retiring Troy Aikman style. He had a great career while he was in his prime, and its a shame the way it all spiraled down after his initial concussion. :looney: Care to explain, because this comment makes no sense. 865 points (372 Goals, 493 Assists) in 760 career games........yeah, that Lindros sure did suck. [/sarcasm]

    Funny Leafs print ad

Simple photoshop job. Notice how the class sign is directly under the center of the bench rather than the group of kids. Sorry, for some reason I ruined this thread. Cue sirdrake to make light of the situation

Coyotes place David Aebischer on waivers

You beat me to it. I was going to say something along the lines of: David, meat Los Angeles. Los Angeles, meet David. I can definitely see LA pulling the trigger on him.

DEBUNKED: Lidstrom 'close' to 2 year extension

As much as its thrown around here: "Get it done, Kenny."

    Question about the old jerseys

:caution: Seriously, who cares what jersey this guy/girl is looking for? Does it really affect any of you?
  13. This coming from sportsnet.ca. What a shock that the only two teams included where his old team plus Ottawa.

Hakan Andersson, most stealthy of them all

Exactly. Illitch said when the salary cap was instituted that he would use the money that was taken away from team salary and use it on scouts. It definitely shows.

Refs keeping a close eye on Holmstrom

Toby........it actually was a bad call. Homer was clearly out of the crease and interfered in no way with Tellqvist. I agree that Homer can walk a fine line at times, but definitely not on this particular play. It was a clearly a botched call by the ref.

    Blackhawk Homegames Televised

Great news for Hawks fans. Obviously, this should've happened a long time ago, but with the young talent on that squad and now this, they're definitely heading in the right direction.

The Best Player in the League:

Relax, it wasn't a campaign ad for the kid.....just a recognition that he's doing great. Hard to argue that. I would agree that he isn't the best player in the league, but he's playing well beyond his experience level. Besides, as HS said, when you eliminate half the league the way the thread starter did, it doesn't quite leave that many options. Sidenote: I was following the thread starters rules, thus I didn't just name Hank even though you should've noticed that I put him first.

Zetterberg has been on a tear. Stastny gets the job done in the offensive zone.

Infamous Holmstrom quote from last year

Hopefully this is a short-lived thread, but this has been driving me crazy for the last week or so. Last year when the ZDH line was put together and they were terrorizing the league, a sports reporter asked Homer what it was like playing on a line with Z and Dats. His response was classic, although I can't remember the exact wording of the last part. I was hoping someone would remember it and put my mind at ease. When asked what it was like to play on a line with Z and Dats he responded with: "Datsyuk to Zetterberg, Zetterberg to Datsyuk, and I............." So what was that last part? I know it was something along the lines of "and I pick up the garbage" or something of the like. Please help me out. It's driving me nuts.

10/20 GDT: Red Wings 5, Phoenix Coyotes 2

Didn't feel like posting tonight, but just wanted to pop in and say that Z is a god. Downey and Ellis played great tonight, and Malts was on fire.

Infamous Holmstrom quote from last year

Essentially it was the same thing, but the particular quote I'm referring to started as I indicated in the initial post. "Z to Dats, Dats to Z, and I......."

    Lids to the rafters

WOW! I need to stop working 50 hour weeks! For some reason I read it wrong. Thanks for the correction FC, I'll make the edit. Nobody is questioning whether or not Fedorov and Shanny were great for the Wings. The question here is about the standard Detroit uses to determine the numbers that get retired. The numbers that do get that honor are a higher standard than most of league.
