You say you are "speculating what the Wings are likely to do" is to retire both Fedorov and Shanny. What basis do you have to make that statment?
-
That I agree with.....and the answer is neither.
-
Looks like Drake will be "caging" it up in the near future.
-
The NHL does. It's the same reason the league has to approve all trades at the deadline? To make sure things are fairly handled. The NHLPA would just be the catalyst. I figured people would put two and two together from my previous post.
-
Shanahan's number won't be retired in Detroit. Where's the logic here? I don't think either should have their number retired in Detroit, but how can you argue for Shanny and not Fedorov?
-
It doesn't work that way. Even if Lids agreed to take a major hometown discount to give the Wings an edge on the salary cap, the NHLPA wouldn't allow Lids to make that little. IMO, the best deal they could hope for would be something along the lines of $6.5 - $6.75 per for 2 years. Even that is a stretch. Lids is worth every dime of the 20% max and the NHLPA knows it. The only thing working in the Wings favor (as far as cap number goes) is his age.
-
I feel very strongly about the numbers that are retired in Detroit, and although I *greatly* appreciate what Shanny did for the Wings, I just don't feel as if his number should be retired in Detroit even if he had finished his career in Hockeytown.
-
Federov is up for debate had he stayed a Wing, but I disagree with Shanny. But that's another topic.
-
Yes, and I believe it will as long as he retires a Wing, and I don't say that lightly. Keep in mind I don't think Federov or Shanny should have their numbers retired in Detroit even though for some reason a good number of people around here do.

Isn't it a little early to be hitting the sauce? -

Not exactly true. It depends on what site you use. I thought they were supposed to have around $4.3 mil, but all of these sites differ. According to: $2.735 remaining http://www.nhlnumbers.com/det.html $4.435 remaining http://www.nhlscap.com/capnumbers/detroit.htm And I think LGW has us listed as $5.65 remaining I want to say the nhlscap site is the most accurate. I do believe the Wings have somewhere around $4.3 million remaining.

Plenty of teams want him, just not for asking price he was initially shooting for.
-
I'm very torn. While I'd love to see him back there on D for the Wings, I'd like to see them spend that money on a guy like Forsberg, plus a deadline forward. That being said, injury problems last year on D killed us, so maybe it wouldn't be the worst idea. $2.75 mil.

Infamous Holmstrom quote from last year

You're probably talking about the one I'm referring to, but I know it started out with Homer saying "Datsyuk to Zetterberg, Zetterberg to Datsyuk, and I........." Just by the way Homer put it, he's saying the same thing as Datsyuk and Zetterberg always pass to each other. -

Suprises / dissapointments so far this season...

Is it possible to impress one in a *bad* way? Hmm, its kind of like "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" -
What do you mean by "other *lines* scoring"? Z and Dats both netted one. Kronwall made another on a failed clearing (BTW Nicely done, Kronwall) and the goal from Ellis was pretty much a fluke. I know it can be a good idea to throw the puck at the net because you never know what can happen, but aside from that goal, none of the none ZDH offensive players contributed on the *scoreboard*.

And he's back! This will help Jones greatly by taking a lot of the pressure off him.

Are you seriously looking for tickets? If you are, I know plenty of people with season tickets. I can always ask around if your interested.

I will say I'm surprised that no one remembers this. -
Isn't this thread about Osgood? Just lightening the mood.

While Rafalski has made a mistake or two so far this year, he doesn't make nearly as many as Schneider did. A lot of people used to overlook Schneider's defensive lapses due to his shot at the point and PP success. IMO, a defenseman's actual defensive responsibility is a hell of a lot more important than a strong shot from the point. The importance of these two skills should *not* be reversed. Rafalski's Defense > Schneider's Shot Better yet.....Rafalski's defense, yet lighter shot > Schneider's heavy shot, yet more mistake prone defense
