That's funny, because whenever my older brother sees Scotty Bowman, he always calls him Joe (my dads name). When my Dad bites his lower lip, its seriously freaky how much he looks like a perturbed Scotty Bowman.

New NHL schedule format for 2008-2009 season
NeverForgetMac25 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
We have a winner folks! I'm not sure who you quoted here wingsgirl, but are you assuming that an 82 game season would be changed? If you aren't unless the schedule isn't balanced, you've got a problem. I.E. According to the example you quoted the guaranteed schedule would look like this: 24 games vs. Divisional opponents 30 games vs. Non-Conference opponents (H & H Series) 54 Games Based on an 82 Game schedule you're left with 28 games. What that means is that you could guarantee a Home & Home series with each non-divisional conference opponent (and a third game with 8 of those 10 teams), but you would still have each team missing out on playing 2 non-divisonal conference opponents a third time. -
New NHL schedule format for 2008-2009 season

Great News! Given that I don't see the NHL changing the current divisions around, here is NFM's proposal for the new schedule: 20 Games = 5 games vs. each divisional opponent (Home Ice Advantage of 5 game series rotated on a bi-yearly format) 30 Games = 3 games vs. each non-divisional conference opponent (Home Ice Advantage of 3 game series rotated by division on a bi-yearly format) 30 Games = 2 games vs. each non-conference opponent = 30 games (Home and Home series) 2 Games = 2 games vs. each non-divisional conference opponent that placed the same seed in their respective division the previous year 82 Games - BOOYAH! -
That's why I love this question. My Dad is only 2 months older than my Mom. They were high school sweethearts.
-
:nonono: That's disgusting. Sidenote: Quick trivia - How far apart in age do you guys think my Mom and Dad are?

Aaah, its feels like Hockey season with aflac back at the helm. Great GDT as always.

Isn't it amazing what a "Dinosaur" can do! Favre wins NFC Player of the Week for the 11th time!
-
Great to hear. If this team can continue to grow and stays healthy next season, there's absolutely no reason why they couldn't be considered a contender. With Favre back slinging the ball, what a picture perfect end to his career to have the chance to play for his second ring. Here's hoping!

This is overdue, but my avatar reflected his accomplishment on Monday already. Anyway, Congrats Brett! A great win on all ends (defense, special teams & *offense*) this past Sunday. We have an incredibly tough matchup with what I consider a top 3 team in the NFL this coming Sunday. Honestly, even though the game is at Lambeau, I'll be thrilled if we can sneak out with a win. I just think SD is too strong on both sides of the ball for our boys to pull this one out. If our D-line can find a way to stuff LT, and if our backs can cover Gates, we've got a shot. Go Pack Go!

This one has been posted before, but this was a classic Sidenote: I'm with you VIB16, Nike had the best commercials and Reebok hasn't had a single one yet that I can even remember.

A huge grin just came acrossed my face!

Alright LGW'ers, help me out. I keep getting the British guy talking about my URL. I can use either Firefox or IE. Please help. I know I'm already missing the action.

It's not a work thing. I was just logged on 15 minutes ago, and now it won't even load the page.

I'm wondering if I signed up for the correct Free Preview. Can anyone confirm this?
-
You know what, I should be good. After I clicked on the NHL Video Portal, I clicked on the "Center Ice" link. From there I clicked the link that stated the following: SIGN UP NOW! - Watch Free Live Preseason Games on Center Ice! After that this screen came up: I completed that, and they never asked me for any billing info. So I'm assuming that should work tonight for the Wings game. Can anyone confirm that for me?
-
I just signed up for this, but I'm questioning whether I should've or not. I am going to be getting Center Ice for Digital Cable and don't want the online version. I just want to watch the preseason games. Is this going to be a problem? Do I need to cancel before the season starts, or once you sign up for the preseason, are you required to get the regular season online as well?

There's a good reason he's a FA tryout. The guy is worthless IMO.

I just renewed my subscription for my 3rd season of NHL Center Ice. Well, actually I got Time Warner to put me on auto renew, seeing as that the package isn't available yet in my area. Does anyone else have Center Ice already locked in for this year, and if so, what did the price end up being for the season? I remember a couple years ago the early bird special was $129.99, and this past year it was bumped up to $149.99. Its out of shear curiosity, but who all gets CI here?
-
Unbelievable that the preseason begins tonight! Maybe its because the Wings had a longer post season this year, maybe its due to the Brewers success, but to me it seems like the season has come much quicker than it did last year. Anyway, what are you're thoughts regarding the preseason? Who are you curious to get a closer look at on the WIngs? On the other 29 teams? Who stands the best chance of cracking the lineup that wasn't on the team last season? Lastly, what are you looking to see this preseason from our boys?

Read the initial post.

I found the bolded comment to be the most exciting! We all know Cheli scores once or twice a year, and I already missed one of them. D*mn!

Sidenote: That's not a knock on Draper. I think he's invaluable.
