I've thought about this for the last few years, and it scares the living hell out of me. I expect the most incredible things from Z over his career, and injuries like the ones he's been hampered with the past few seasons, can really take away from a player of his calibre's career. Here's hoping its in the past.
-
Exactly, why chance re aggravating a serious injury for a game that (while important for charities) isn't worth getting injured over. Z could do just as much good "coaching" a team, or just being at the game without the risk of reinjury. It's just not worth it. Take it easy this offseason Z, and come back 100%.
-
Tickets for the regular season (disincluding season ticket holders) aren't even out yet. I would be willing to bet you're going to have to wait a few more months before they go on sale.
-
Until a credible source states something of the like, I won't take any stock in the report. Z (and the Red Wings) could very well just be taking every precaution they can to ensure Z is 100% healed before October. I don't blame them if they are.

True, but its all but confirmed that Eklund is Dwayne Keith Klessel, which is who I posted.
-
I absolutely loved their thirds last season, and hoped they'd move toward making them permanent. The green/blue color scheme smokes what they were using last season, and if I had to give percentages based on the three shown, they would look like this: Vintage Stick: 67% (Vintage logo you just can't go wrong with) Johnny Canuck: 33% (Sharp logo that a team can be proud of) Whale: 0% (The logo still sucks even with the blue/green color scheme being a huge improvement)

For those of you still wondering who Eklund is: Chances that its really Dwayne Keith Klessel: e5!

Where's Anaheim on that list? Before anyone freaks out, it was just a joke. Carry on........ -
Cheli has a few skills left to teach the rooks
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Flip-check's topic in General
He was the other one I thought it might be, but the more I looked at it, the more I realized it was Willy. -
Burke will retire immediately concluding the 08/09 season. In all seriousness, from a GM's perspective looking at all that "Red" for the 09/10 season is beyond terrifying. Burke is in trouble, especially due to the age of the UFA's on their roster. However, retirement plays a huge factor in this.

Because the view starts to distort, I can't tell which Red Wing or ex Wing (Willy?) it is right behind Cheli, but you can see he's laughing at the incident. -
Eva, While BlakChamber already stated what I was going to on the Bonds case, what HS stated in his most recent post is more than accurate. Armstrong was cocky as a young cyclists, and tried to blow people out of the water. Thats why he was more of a middle of the road cyclists. He would blow all his energy to early in the race, and by midway through the race he would lose steam, and finish in the middle. After he came back frrom cancer he was smarter about the way he rode, especially at the Tour De France. Lance was practically never in the lead until after somewhere in the middle of the mountains stage (which is practically 2/3 into the race). Beyond that, as HS said, there is no athelete in the world that has been as tested over the course of their career as much as Lance was over the past 7 years of his. Never once did he come up positive while Bonds admitted to doping.

I'll be all over this!

Thanks for the link. I remember watching those five take the ice, and it was shear beauty what they accomplished as a cohesive unit.
-
Way to step up Hossa! This is the type of stuff that gives professional hockey players the rep that they rightfully deserve. Greatest atheletes/people both on and off the ice.

And keep in mind that the jersey was laying flat. It will look different when its contoured to someone's body. That being said, I don't care for where they started the lettering either, but it may help "balance off" the Captain's letters of the team.

QFT Also, if this is the only tainted sports achievement that this writer can come up with for the NHL, than the our sport is in great shape.

If Burke backs up his word Teemu is done in Anaheim, and if Neids returns, it'll put another large strain on what that team can do before the season even begins.
-
While I agree his game has been on the decline, paying one third of your shutdown line (which is arguably as good as any team's) under a million dollars per isn't such a bad deal with a cap of $50.3 million. Also, Franzen, Cleary and Kopecky can't do what Maltby can. Those three are better all around players right now, but none of them have the chemistry with Draper that Maltby does. Malts might not be putting up offensive numbers, but he doesn't have to for his game........he just needs to take offensive numbers away from his opponents. Thats what Draper and him are great at together.

Wow, I actually remember that. It was so lame, but it was the only hockey I could watch during the offseason since I was only 10 years old, and NHL Center Ice didn't exist at that point. I remember the Salsa and the Express, but wasn't there a team named the Tornadoes? Maybe that was some other league.

"Kings and Cammalleri at an impasse"
NeverForgetMac25 replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
The Kings have roughly $7.6 million left to spend. They'll get a deal done, or match what an arbitrator awards for atleast one season. -
Gotta love it when pro atheltes get underage drinking tickets.

It's not a matter of teams not wanting him. He's arguably the most desired UFA D-man left on the market. That being said, he had too high of a number/term in mind on July 1st, and he hasn't dropped his demands enough yet for any team to pull the trigger. However, sooner or later his demands will drop, and when that happens a team will ****** him up in a heartbeat. When Markov starts dropping his demands, I would love for Kenny to be there to pick him up for somewhere near a 2 year/$3 mil per contract. This way his contract will expire right when Z's does, and when Z is signed (hopefully July 1st, 2008) to a longterm deal, you won't have to worry about future financial constraints. Also, that will leave Kenny and Co $2.3 million left to play with for the deadline which is plenty of cash due to being prorated.
