Not a bad chunk of change for a guy that hasn't played a second of hockey at the NHL level.

Remember Jamie Mclennen Calgarys stick swingin backup
NeverForgetMac25 replied to sticknmove's topic in General
I agree, but that wasn't the point I was making. Simply put, he was brought in during Game 5 for a reason. He did what he was told to do. Sidenote: McSorely was definitely well known as a dirty player before the Brashaer incident, however Bertuzzi wasn't considered nearly as dirty (before the Moore incident) as McSorely was before his infamous incident. True, Bert is closer to McSorely than McLennan is to Bert, but I'm not about justifying which players are closer to others. To me, its pretty irrelevant. -
Or he could roll the area of a triangle: 1/2bh

For arguments sake, it pretty hypocritcial to condemn McSorely or Bertuzzi for their single acts, and not to do the same to McLennan. -
I don't feel its an issue of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The problem is if the Z-Dats-Homer line is reunited, teams will stack their shutdown lines against them. Don't get me wrong, it didn't seem to work to well for other teams from December-February of last year, but the playoffs are different. Separating Z and Dats makes the Wings offense that much harder to play against, and as stated, if the two of them struggle apart, you can always put them back together to jumpstart their production.

I'm fully on board with this being Babcock's team, but I can't say I don't love this:
-
After the shot went through, he looked behind himself to see if it went in. No, I know it wasn't your intent to bash him, but you know thats the direction this thread will eventually take.

That probably because the Tigers were so bad for such a long time, and then all of a sudden they make the World Series. Its hard to get as excited about a team like the Wings when you're at the top of the standings year-in and year-out.

Here's a "funny" image of Lang saving our second round series against SJ.

No way i would ever purchase that crappy jersey

That image has been posted countless times on LGW. It's not real, nor is it the style the Wings will have next year. Illitch won't change the uniform aside from the required form fit. -
for all of you that want the nhl back on espn
NeverForgetMac25 replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
If Bettman decided to put the NHL back on ESPN, I would be shocked. It just seems like its above his head to get something like this done. That being said, it would be weird to watch ESPN again on a regular basis. Once the NHL switched to OLN/Versus, and after each football season, I just had no interest in tuning in to that station. Highlights about basketball for 45 minutes of a 60 minute show isn't appealing to me one bit. -
I've thought about this a great deal ever since I got into hockey. For some reason or another, hockey atheletes are just more humble and well-mannered people than that of NFL or NBA stars. It truly is sad that the NBA dominates the NHL, but people love hearing good gossip. Similarly, the Vick issue is an American media dream. Sad.

Meh. Their jersey's were never good looking to begin with, but these are a slight improvement.

Comparing anyone's looks to that of Mike Ricci's is not a compliment.

I agree that we need to add one UFA forward before the season starts. The problem with leaving the $5+ million for the deadline is the catch-22 that would result. Sure, we could probably afford (cash-wise) 2 major stars and even possibly a role guy at the deadline, but it would cost the farm in picks and prospects, and it would completely jeopardize our future. So, if Kenny wants to ink Foresberg, I'm starting to warm up to that idea. Selanne would be fine as well. Sign someone like Foresberg (ACK, I hate saying that) or Selanne, and add one major offensive star at the deadline, so we don't sell the farm, and we should be in great shape come April 08.

At this point, I'm really starting to warm up to the idea of bringing Markov back. With the lack of quality UFA's remaining, bringing Markov back and leaving $1-$1.75 for a deadline acquisition wouldn't be the worst idea. The problem with leaving that much salary for the deadline is the catch-22 that would result at the deadline. Sure, we could probably afford 2 major stars and even possibly a role guy at the deadline, but it would cost the farm in picks and prospects, and it would completely jeopardize our future. So, if Markov wants to come back for a contract around the $3 mil mark, I don't have a problem with that. If Kenny wants to ink Foresberg, I'm starting to warm up to that as well. Personally, I'd rather pass on Markov, sign someone like Foresberg (ack, so hard to say), and sign one major star at the deadline. I just think at this point, our D is strong enough to handle things without Markov. Sidenote: Sorry this response should almost be in a "Forward" or "Defense" thread, rather than what impact Markov would have to a team. However, I did touch on that in my response.

Bert joins Pronger, Burke, Getzlaf and Perry in Anaheim Another instant classic!

No offense Carolina, but I don't see this helping you much.

QFT There's a reason Saturday afternoon hockey on NBC had its analysts located in downtown New York, and why the Rangers where almost always involved in one of the three games they offered that day. True, the Wings are probably America's team, but if the Rangers had the same type of consistency the past 20 years, they'd probably be bigger.

Once again, my s/n is Never Forget Mac #25 for a reason. While I love the guy, he isn't what the Red Wings need. With his constant injury bug and decline in play (including his edge to an extent) it won't help this current Wings team. I love you Mac, and will never forget what you did for this team. Best of luck, and here's hoping you catch on somewhere else, and jumpstart your career again.

As I've stated before, Stevie Y finally raising the cup (he so deserved) in 97.

Even though its similar to their current logo, IMO this one looks even more like a street hockey logo.

A NHL European League showdown in the works

To be honest, I'm not even really a soccer fan, but I understand how the UCL works. -

What makes you say that? I knoow how the UEFA Champion League works, and I would bet there's plenty of other members here that do as well.
