A NHL European League showdown in the works
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
Which would dull down both leagues essentially. For those people think the NHL has too much talent spread out over too many teams, your idea cut the on ice quality of play in half again. -
A NHL European League showdown in the works

I could get into that. It would defenitely be interesting, but whether or not they televise the game in America is a whole different story. -
I know we argue alot here on LGW, but this has to be one of the most out there debates of all time. When we start debating about girls in burlap sacks, its definitely cause for a WTF. Nonetheless, it was hilarious to hear you two debate about the underlying meaning of wearing turtlenecks and its association with being a prick, and somehow a burlap sack came into play.

I'm not a huge fan of Eklund, but I will admit that his rant is more than justified. I have no problems with it.

Going by the 90's makes things more difficult since Bowman transformed Yzerman's role on the team. A more direct question might have been who's the better scorer? 80's Yzerman or 90's Fedorov. A great deal of similarities could be argued between these two during the course of their careers. They both came out guns-a-blazing on the score sheet, and as their careers progressed, they became all-around complete players. Since becoming that type of player, their numbers obviously dropped. If you want to compare who was the better scorer in their primes, I'd give the edge to Yzerman. Keep in mind if you talk about the pinnacle of their offensive careers, during Stevie's most point productive season he scored 155 points and 65 goals, where as Federov's top season was 120 points and 56 goals. Stevie has 6 100-point seasons compared to Sergei's 2. Once again, advantage Yzerman. But going back to the exact question posed in this thread, neglecting the 80's and just focusing on the 90's, I'd say Federov was a more talented scorer, where Stevie was the all-around better player.

Some of the responses in this thread are going to make LGW look very bad. :nonono: -
Eklund at it again. Forsberg to Detroit?
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Reggie Dunlop's topic in General
I'm not referring to when he left the Avs. I believe he was quoted as saying it before the trade deadline last season. I don't have confirmation, I just remember hearing that..........or so I think. -

So, you're saying you're a fan of his work? TBH, I do believe he was quoted as saying that at some time. -

Not that this means much, but hasn't Foresberg been on record saying he'd never play for the Red Wings because of the rivalry of the past. -
Yeah because if that Broduer guy has been one thing the past 15 years......its definitely been inconsistent. :nonono: Sidenote: You're comment about "when Luongo becomes available" is essentially a contradiction of your point that goalies are on and off.

QFT Sidenote: Wasn't it the Nashville media that made that mistake? I believe it was The Tennessean (not that it should come as a shock).

Yeah, too bad he decided to jump two feet in the air after juking himself out of his own jock. The second replay of it (third overall) is the funniest angle of them all. I saw this a while ago, yet I laughed just as hard as I did the first time.

Unfortunately, Sid doesn't have a chance. His best bet would've been going up against a European Soccer player, since the majority of voters are from America. Similar to this comment by the thread starter: "LaDainian Tomlinson def. David Beckham (only in America)"

I'd be willing to bet its just poor web manangement. The two have signed, and it has been reported under numerous news outlets. Nothing to read into. ...........unless they did S&T Drake and Hudler for Joe!!!!!!1111111

Without any reservations or doubt in my mind, Sammy will take that honor for sure.

That team has more turnover in the coaching/GM position than entry level sales.

There rests a piece of history. RIP Jimmy.

What's funny is that a great deal of members were all for bringing in Yashin, and as soon as Jimmy D crushed the idea, none of the Yashin supporters have come in this thread to complain about it. Seen the light? Edit: Grammar

I'll be there!

 1 Saturday game (Away Game Season Opener!!!) and 2 Sunday games in Chicago! I'll be there for those three, plus Saturday, December 22nd in Minnesota. That's four away games for sure that NFM#25 will be at. Now I've got to figure out which games I'll make the big trip to Detroit for.

Unfortunately, QFT. During the past 3 regular seasons, Mac has only managed to play 142 games out of a possible 246. His injury problems seem to be slowing him down at a much greater rate than they had in years past. Here's hoping for an unexpected turnaround for the 07/08 season!
