A week or so ago Yashin's demands were presumably higher. Now that some of the bigger UFA's are off the table, I would assume his demands are starting to drop. That's how I came to my term/$ prediction for Yashin. If he's smart and saw what some of the other UFA's were going for, he would use that to determine his demands (atleast for the initial week of Free Agency). I know that everyone here doesn't want Yashin for more than one year (atleast I would hope not), but that had nothing to do with what I'm saying. I meant that Yashin is probably looking for a little more than a 1 year/$4 mil deal. Obviously the longer the term, the less he'd take, but it still has to be reasonable in his eyes. However, I don't think 1 year/$4 mil is reasonable in his eyes..........yet. That's my whole point.

I highly doubt Yashin would take a 1 year deal worth $3 mil, when he's probably entertaining contracts offers around 3 years/$3.5-$4.5 right now.

Under what terms (years, amount) would signing Yashin be a great deal? Because, IMO signing him to $4 million per would be a mistake.

Ugh......here's hoping the Wings go into the season with the current lineup rather than wasting money on guys like Lindros or Yashin. There's only a couple names left that barely tweak my interest and Yashin isn't one of them. That's right. My bad.

Beyond what everyone else has said, why would Kenny move Maltby (who was an UFA) immediately after he re-signed? That wouldn't be the smartest business decision.

For $550,000 its a solid deal. It helps address an issue, without overpaying for it. This leaves plenty of cap room for a second liner and a deadline acquisition.

Hell, if they start the season with this roster, they can pick up pretty much anyone plus another high end player. Paying only the prorated salary is huge come deadline time.

God willing. There's nobody on the Wings roster that is more important to the future of this franchise than Z. If he wants to stay a Wing his entire career, I say start writing the contract.

Seriously, what's your problem? First and foremost, I read your posts very carefully, and they come off extremely harsh, thus causing anyone who reads them to be defensive. You've essesntially ripped Roddick a new one and you come as if you think the guy doesn't deserve to be on a tennis court. I just don't understand that. Roddick was touted as being the next American hopeful to be the next Pete or Andre, but the last time anyone with any common sense said that was more than two years ago. They all realize that Roddick isn't at the calibre of Federer. My point is, why do you get so mad at the fact that Roddick isn't Pete, or Andre or Federer? Does the same apply for Jan Ulrich in cycling because he couldn't touch Armstrong? Does Ulrich deserve to be told he's sh*t and a choke artist simply because he can't beat arguably the most dominant athlete of his respected sport? Never once did I argue that Roddick was better than so many greats (or that he's "the man", which you conveniently pretended that I said), but he's not the sh*tty player you seem to be making him out to be. That's my whole point. What don't you get about that?

Regardless of the fact that it was three years ago, he still has a major under his belt. Since you insinuated that I know nothing about tennis, than I say to you, if you knew anyting about tennis than you would know that the last tournament he won was less than a month ago. As far as Roddick losing to lower ranked players, guess what? Federer has lost to 5 lower ranked opponents this year and Nadal has lost to 7 lower ranked players. Are they choke artists? I find it funny how you say that you're quick to say no one is comparing Roddick to Pete, yet you did it again in the above post. Just because Roddick isn't as good as Pete or Andre doesn't mean he deserves being ripped the way you are doing it. He is the best American there is right now. Deal with it.
