When you cast thousands of nets you're bound to catch atleast a couple fish. Dom isn't leaving Detroit for any other club (especially LA). Sidenote: If I were you, I'd be more concerned with the fact that you're listening to Eklund than Dom signing elsewhere.

Right now? I question that. The intensity of the regular season isn't near that of the playoffs. Kenny & Co could sign Bert and another solid forward, and hold of until the deadline to sign a more quality Dman that would round off our defensive core heading into the playoffs. No need to break the bank for some of these price tags that are getting thrown around. Kenny made the right move immediately replacing Schneider with Rafalski, and I agree that its time for him to stay on the sidelines (atleast when it comes to Dmen) for a little while.

Hudler may be gone on his own right.

Bates Battaglia just re-signed with Toronto. http://www4.sportsnet.ca/nhl_signings_2007/

Unless the deal of all deals comes around, I would definitely hold off on adding another Dman. Our unit is solid right now, and IMO adding that second line sniper should be the top prority (given that Hasek is signed). It'll be interesting to see if they are able to sign Bert what kind of room they'll have left. To me, I would love to possibly get a second tier forward (along with Bert) to compliment the scoring, and then hold off until the deadline to sign a more solid Dman, if need be.

For the amount Preissing signed for, LA made out well. Great signing for the Kings at a great price compared to what other teams are doing.
-
Looks like this deal is null and void. Nylander to the Caps.
-
It totally depends on the price tag, and the offensvie sniper they add.

:rotflmao: Classic Eklund

I'm not 100% sure what the exact number is, but I believe its $34.3 million.

That could all happen, but it hasn't yet. The Rafalski signing brings stability to the Wings D especially after Lids retires, but there is no guarantee that Lids will be done after the 08/09 season. As many of you know, if there's two guys on the Wings that I want more than anyone, its Z and Lids. I don't want anything to compromise that.

I felt so out of the loop last night when I signed on. I was away all weekend, and didn't hear all the news until then. While I'm excited about Rafalski being a Wing, I'm not too crazy about his contract. IMO, its the term that scares, but a lot can change between now and the time Z's contract is up. Obviously, he was offered more elsewhere but took a "hometown" discount, but I would have liked to see Rafalski ink for contracts such as 2 years/$6.25 million or 5 years/$5 million. While that could very well be just far-fetched, I just don't want anything getting in the way of Z's signing for the 09/10 season. NFM's grade on the signing: B+

Wings Want to Re-sign Bert Before Free Agency

If you had read the next few posts you would see that I already covered that. http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1109596 -
This thread is a vicious time-sucking cycle.

Besides Canada, what country produces the best hockey players?

I'd have to go with Sweden, but Russia isn't far behind. -
Once again, NFM#25 is correct.

Seriously.......I didn't look.

Wings Want to Re-sign Bert Before Free Agency

Cheers, and I could have been more clear with the way I stated it. Obviously there are priorities on teams that can range from both ends of the spectrum. Fortunately for the Wings its seems like our role players are rock-solid for the upcoming season, and all Kenny and Co have to worry about is getting a couple of solid players to fill out the lineup. Looks good for us having all our young talent back and with one more years worth of experience under their belts. -
Wings Want to Re-sign Bert Before Free Agency

Don't put words in my mouth. I would hope its blatantly obvious I'm referring to Bert and what type of role he would play on the Wings. I think you're trying to make an argument out of nothing. Exactly, and its next to impossible to find a player that brings that much to the table while only commanding a $2 million contract, even with his injury plagued 06/07 season. Sidenote to all LGW members: Sorry if I'm coming off short today. I've been cranky since the beginning of the week. -
Wings Want to Re-sign Bert Before Free Agency

^ This is the stuff I'm talking about. Bert is supposedly a top priority to sign, but he's only worth $2-$2.5 max. It just doesn't add up. ........even with his injury problems. -
Chalk one up for NFM#25 and his infinite knowledge. NFM#25's Prediction
