Eklund..... :nonono: There isn't a single team in the league that wouldn't pay atleast 3 times that amount (even with his current back situation) to get Bert.
-
Who thinks he'll get traded to the Wings before the season starts?
-
This is just another instance where Eklund is dumb as sh*t. If Hasek is re-signed, I want people to look at my prediction (possible $2.5 million including bonuses) compared to Eklund's $5.5 million, and remember just how ridiculous he can be.
-
While I'm sure Hasek's base salary will be more than last year, I don't think it'll be leaps and bounds more than it was in 06/07. It's obvious Hasek doesn't care one bit about the money at this point, and that all he wants is to finish his career by winning one last Cup. You know Kenny will excercise that kind of concern to him when they're talking about his contract. It'll be along the lines of "Hey Dom, the less money you take, the more talent we can put on the ice, and give you the best chance to end your career by winning it all in June 08." NFM's prediction: 2007/2008 Salary - $1,000,000 Playoff Bonuses Totaling up to - $1,500,000 Edit: Grammar

Since you downloaded it at the time, do you think you could upload your copy of it for the rest of us? -

I'll second that. I didn't think I'd need to use the link that was posted since I DVR'ed the game, but unfortunately the Ceremony started before the DVR picked up on it, and I missed a small portion of it. If anyone could post that link again to download the Ceremony, I would be in your debt. Hell, I may even give you some bonus points for next years Playoff Picks Game! -
When was your first Wings game at the Joe?
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Ack, I've been trying to avoid this thread as long as I can, but it keeps popping back up. Unfortunately my first game at JLA was Game 5 of the 2004 WCSF's. My idol gets his orbital socket shattered and the Wings lose 1-0. Depressing as hell for a first game (at JLA anyway). My first game ever was during the 2002 season at the Ex. The Wings beat the Wild 2-0. Great first game to go to! FYI: I've been to around 20 Wings games (only two of which were at JLA), and the Wings are roughly 17-0-1, and the two times I've seen them at JLA they are 0-1-1. Figure that one out. Granted I always see the Wings play the Blackhawks since the United Center is only 3.5 hours away or the Wild since the Ex is 4.5 hours away. Detroit is about 9 hours so its a little more than a day trip. -
Wow, talk about defensive. The Ducks just won the cup, and you should be happier than that repsonse. Let people find something that isn't harshly ill-willed amusing when it is.
-
:rotflmao: That is seriously hilarious. Of all the teams in the NHL, its funny as hell that you found the Ducks doing that.
-
I hope you're referring to the Retro Blue/Green Jerseys that they wore a good amount this season, because I think their navy ones with the current team logo are lame as hell. I wish Vancouver would switch to that retro uni permanently.
-
If those are in fact their actual 07/08 jerseys, then they are a huge improvement (even though the jersey is a little "busy", IMO). That being said, anything is an improvement over their current uni's.
-
Like Hannan said, he feels 8% faster out there in the new unis. Hilarious comment regardless.
-
He's only 33. Why would he leave simply because of his trophy case. If that were the case, should Lids have left a while ago since he's "done enough already"?
-
Niedermayer will be playing next season.

Yesterday I watched the 97 and 98 championship DVD's, and it was the worst deja vu. I remember every single day just watching the papers or any other form of media just hoping/expecting Vladdy to wake up. It was so horrible and disheartening to see how long it actually took. Cheers Vladdy! You're missed and not forgotten.

It 100% situational if you ask me. When the Wings were playing the Ducks in 2003, scoring the first goal was *huge*. Playing against SJ this year, it didn't mean a d*mn thing. If you in a tight, low-scoring series it means a great deal. If you're in a series where both teams are consistently scoring, its not as big of a deal. With that, its not that big of a deal to get scored on first in game 1 of playoff series, but if my team is in game 7, I sure as hell would like that first goal of the game. It doesn't mean you're going to win, but it definitely helps calm the nerves a little bit. Some here have said things to the effect of "their professional atheletes, and a 1-0 lead shouldn't rattle them" but they're still human, and are still susceptible to letting things get to their head, especially as the game wears on, and given that the team that scored first still holds a low-scoring lead (I.E. 1-0, 2-1). All in all, it doesn't mean a thing in some situations, but in others it could mean the world.

Round 3 Standings: Post your picks for Round 4 here please! Make sure they are in before Monday (5-28) at 8:00 ET. SCF: (2) Anaheim Ducks vs. (5) Ottawa Senators NOTICE: If you are going to copy and paste your picks please copy the following example and use it as a guide: ANA/OTT - *Winner Team Name & Series score* For those of your that don't remember the rules, I have posted them below: Each round you will pick a winner for each series. For every correct series winner you predict, you will receive 5 points (0 if you pick the incorrect team). Also to aid with tiebreakers you will also pick how many games the losing team in each series will win. Given that the team you picked to win actually does win the series, you will then have the opportunity to receive up to 3 bonus points. For every game you are off for the losing teams actual win total, I will subtract 1 bonus point. After each round, every player will then pick again based on the teams the made through to the next round. Whoever has the most points at the end of the season, wins Playoff bragging rights. If any of your are confused, I'll do a mock picks example: NFM#25's Mock Picks Detroit 4-2 over Calgary Anaheim 4-3 over Minnesota Vancouver 4-3 over Dallas San Jose 4-2 over Nashville Buffalo 4-1 over NYI New Jersey 4-1 over Tampa Bay Atlanta 4-3 over NYR Ottawa 4-3 over Pittsburgh Let's say this happened in the first round: Detroit won 4-3 over Calgary Minnesota won 4-3 over Anaheim Vancouver won 4-3 over Dallas San Jose won 4-3 over Nashville Buffalo won 4-0 over NYI NJ won 4-1 over Tampa Bay NYR won 4-3 over Atlanta Ottawa won 4-0 over Pittsburgh Here's how my point total would work out: DET/CAL = 5 Points + 2 Bonus Points ANA/MIN = 0 Points VAN/DAL = 5 Points + 3 Bonus Points SJ/NSH = 5 Points + 2 Bonus Points BUF/NYI = 5 Points + 2 Bonus Points NJ/TB = 5 Points + 3 Bonus Points NYR/ATL = 0 Points OTT/PIT = 5 Points + 0 Bonus Points Total first round score: 42

Official LGW Playoff Picks Game: Round 4
NeverForgetMac25 replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
Sorry this is so late everyone. Believe it or not, work got in the way! That being said, the final standings will be up within the hour. Sidenote: Thanks Eva for the assistance. -
Here's what Clark thinks about . I am not in the NHL and have never won the Cup, therefore I will never touch it. I have the utmost respect for it, and hold the tradition that almost all the players do.

Happy Anniversary indeed What a phenomenal day that was! BTW, McCarty didn't score the go-ahead goal, Lidstrom did in the last minute of the first period to make it 1-0. Mac's goal (which made it 2-0) was the Stanley Cup clinching goal since Philly scored in the final 20 seconds.
