Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head

Once again, this isn't Pronger's fault. If he wasn't 6'6" or if McAmmond could've just grown another 6 inches, Pronger's elbow wouldn't have gotten him in the side of the neck. Pronger is a POS.

If the Ducks win the Cup?

Just because the Wings outplayed the Ducks doesn't mean that they were the best team in the playoffs. The best team in the playoffs (just like the best team in the regular season) doesn't always end up winning the cup. The best team in the playoffs is the team that finds a way to win even when they're outplayed, and finds a way to get their name on the cup.

Is Ray Emery the Next Cam Ward?

Towards the end of the '97 season Carey was moved to the Bruins. During the '98/'99 season he played only 4 games with the Blues, and that was the end of his NHL career. Later that year he played 2 games in the IHL.

No, there are free programs that do it too. I can't remember which one some posters on here use, but there is one out there. It's essentially a rip-off of Photoshop, and you can download it for free. Sorry, back on topic now.........

Official LGW Playoff Picks Game: Round 4

Not unless Ottawa decides to win 4 of the next 5.

Is Ray Emery the Next Cam Ward?

It's not really fair to say that Ward stunk it up this season while Emery was great. Emery only had 3 more wins than Ward and 0.021 better SV%. The GAA maybe huge, but thats more of a team stat anyway. I'll give you that Ward wasn't as good as Emery, but his team wasn't near as good as Ottawa's this past season, and yet its not like Emery is blowing Ward out of the water with his stats.

Official LGW Playoff Picks Game: Round 4

No worries for the both of you. I'll just put asterisks next to your standings spots. Honestly though, I'll will have to put an asterisk next to your names so people don't complain about the late submission, and just to keep things fair.

You're Sig was removed because it was over the maximum alloted space. 100 x 400 pixels is the maximum. When I first saw your sig, I was wondering how much longer it would take the admin team to do something about it.

Is Ray Emery the Next Cam Ward?

Perhaps a little more direction from the threadstarter to clarify what comparisons he/she's asking between Emery and Ward.

His offseason training is how he's able to do what he's doing. He trains harder than probably any NHL'er after his season concludes, and some of the techniques he uses when he's out West are a secret between him and his trainer. God only knows what they are, but he promised to reveal them *after* he retires.

Is Ray Emery the Next Cam Ward?

IMHO, Emery is good (better than the average starter), but I don't think he'll ever be elite. I just don't see him as the same caliber as a Kippur or a Brodeur type. It would be ignorant to say he doesn't have talent, but I've never seen him consistently rise up to the level guys like Kippur (or even Giggy) have.

    Game 2: Sens vs. Ducks

For those of you that know me, I love a good ol' 1-0 game with it being 0-0 heading into the third. That being said, there wasn't as much flow to this game as I would've liked, but nonetheless, I guess I'm happy the Ducks won. The cup needs to come back to the West, despite having Pronger's name on it. Ugh.

Joakim Anderson our 2007 1st rd pick ?

He's Swedish and a Center. You can bet this kid will have a locker in Michigan this season.

    Kozzie a Wing again?

I don't respect players that take cheapshots, whether they're wearing the Winged Wheel or not.

    Kozzie a Wing again?

I can guarantee you won't hear that from me. While I'd appreciate his goals here and there, I've always cringed whenever a Wing makes a questionable hit. Maltby is a great agitator, and I can see why other teams' fans call him a pansy, but atleast he just gets in the other teams face, rather than cheapshotting players. For Hartnell its seems more commonplace.

    Kirk Maltby

06/07 Salary Franzen - $775,000 Maltby - $1.368 million 07/08 Salary Franzen - $900,000 Maltby - ??? Don't forget that Maltby could be on a continually reduced contract for the next 3 seasons. I.E. 07/08 - $1,000,000 ---08/09 - $800,000 --- 09/10 - $700,000 Sidenote: Not that I'm defending F.Michaels viewpoint of Maltby, because I'll be thrilled if to have Malts back for what is seemingly $833,000 of a cap hit per year for the next 3 seasons.

    Kozzie a Wing again?

I know its already been said, but I'd welcome Kozlov back especially for the price tag that he would more than likely come for. He'd probably want to go to a "potential" favorite going into the season as well due to the fact that he's not getting younger.

    Nashville Staying put!

I'll believe it when a source other than The Tennessean confirms it. From the Predators boards, The Tennessean is the most ripped on source. It seems that they can't get anything right.

Is the Salary Cap going up next season?

From what I've understood, the cap for the 07/08 season will be between $48-50 million. This will greatly help offset Dats' raise, and if the cap grows another couple million the following season as well, the Wings will be in great shape to get Z locked up to a long term contract during the 08/09 season.

Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?

And how is that different than last year? Tthey needed to deal a goaltender, yet they both are still in SJ. The reason Biron was in a completely different situation than what Toskala will be at the 07/08 deadline was because Buffalo already landed Zubrus and didn't really feel they needed to make any other big moves at the deadline. On top of that, the real talent from PHI was already picked over (I.E. Foresberg, Calder ). Besides, dealing Biron for a pick clears up cap space, which so many people tend to forget. Sidenote: I wasn't really referring to any active roster player in particular? I was just stating that SJ could get some early round picks for Toskala come the deadline, rather than dumping him now. Maybe you and I are saying the same thing, but in a roundabout way. I just feel Toskala would be worth more at the deadline. Simple as that.

Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?

I would pay Giguere $4 million a season way before Toskala at $1.375 (which FYI is his salary for the 07/08 season). If Dom retires, and Giggy would come here for $4 million (which he won't by the way....not for the price tag), it would be a steal. I don't think Holland would either. If Dom comes back, I would think Holland would sign him for a little more than his base salary this year (which was $750,000) such as something like $1 million plus playoff performance bonuses with the potential of reaching $2.5 million. I would think thats what people are referring to when they say $2.5 million. Atleast, that's what I'm referring to.

Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?

Esche has proven he's not a bona fide number one, and Niittymaki has yet to prove he'll be capable of the starting role for years to come. Toskala on the other hand is on a team with a surefire starter........so no, they aren't in similar situations. Biron is the man now in Philly. Either Esche or Niitty will be the odd man out, and my guess is Esche will be gone since he'll be a UFA after the 07/08 season, and Niitty will still have the 07/08 season as a RFA. Next why would SJ part with Toskala for a couple prospects and or picks at this point? That would be the biggest waste and SJ knows it. I agree that since every GM knows that they have two solid tenders that their asking price will be down, which is why you keep them until the price goes up. As I stated before, Trade Deadline time. Look how much Atlanta, San Jose and Nashville gave up to get the studs that they did. Toskala should be in the same boat as Roloson was during the 05/06 season, and the asking price will be sky high as a result of the way teams paid out during the deadline this season. So again, why would SJ give away Toskala for a couple prospects and or picks?
