Bertuzzi Update (1:37pm): Game-time decision
NeverForgetMac25 replied to sapphire7598's topic in General
Well, hopefully Hudler comes in with Piss and Vinegar in his veins and puts on a show. -
Completely agree. This really screws Ottawa over. I was thinking at absolute latest this series would begin Sunday, but I had my money riding on Saturday. Gofigure that if the Wings move on, they'll have 3 full days of rest before the SCF's even begin.

Even though the Wings will win tonight, in years past when the Wings have been eliminated, I almost always cheer for the West. I always like to see the Wings conference get the cup. The only exceptions are when I just despise the team representing the West (I.E. 2001 Colorado). Even that year hurt because I hated the Devils for '95.

Cheers Agreed....Get Your Lang On!!!

What's your problem Os? Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean you need to get cocky. Can't we have a rational discussion without it turning to poking insults? Anyway, I'm not blaming Dom. Where did you come up with that? What I'm saying is that both Dom and Lids were in a bad, no-win situation having it be a 3-on-1 with Ducks on either side of Dom. It didn't leave very many options for either player, and forced both guys back. Don't put words in my mouth.

Wrong thread: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43469

If you watch the replay Dom did not have the entire lower portion of the net covered. It could have just as easily slid by the left side of his pads, with Dom being unable to react that fast.
-
Stevie Y said that to the team before Game 6 of the 2002 WCF's. .......The WingsZR2 quote, that is.
-
Understandable, but don't forget that there were two different Ducks players on each side of the goalie, thus forcing Dom to play deeper in the crease. Because of that, he wasn't able to be in the position to cut off the angle of Niedermayer's shot. There isn't a goalie in the league that would stop a wrist shot that point blank, while the tender was forced to play practically along the goal line. While I understand and agree that a stick in the way can sometimes cause problems like it did in Game 5, you still have to remember it was essentially a 3-on-1 since the rest of our guys were defending too close to the blue line.
-
It's a little different when you're defending a 6-on-4. The circumstances are completely different than 5-on-5. If Lids puts his body in front of the shot, it leaves 1 (or possibly 2) open guys right at the goal mouth. Lids was playing a great positional angle, and it was just unlucky.

which one of you toilet papered Gigueres house?

Team: Goldberg! Goldberg: It wasn't me! -
Wow, just got done reading the entire thread. Where to begin? First and foremost, anyone that discredits Giguere is just plain ignorant. The guy has been phenomenal and, IMO is the sole reason the Ducks are in the position they are tonight. Now the fact remains that the Wings have greatly ouplayed the Ducks in the past 3 games, but have only come out with one win. That's hockey. On one hand, Giggy has done a great job of keeping his team in the game, when they didn't deserve to be, and there's no refuting that. That being said, if the Wings play the same way they have these past three games, and eliminate the mental errors, they will advance to the SCF's. The Wings *currently* are the better team, and playing the better all-around game, but Giguere has kept his squad alive. Roberto Who?: What do you expect to happen when you start a thread in the manner you did? LGW Members: Are you surprised that Roberto Who? is touting his team's goalie's play? You shouldn't be because he's played great.

I was there with you guys. From a few months ago while vacationing in Disney/Daytona Beach. Myself and Mrs. NFM#25:

100% agree with the bolded statement. The Ducks are a fine team, and have earned their #2 seed in the West, but the fact remains that the Ducks somehow stole these past 2 games, and were outplayed in both of them. However, that's hockey.

I know this isn't your point, but how was Lang's goal against SJ luck? If you aren't referring to the time that it took place in the game, then there's nothing about that goal that was luck. It was a great shot, and found its way into the net.
-
I can't confirm nor deny that statement, but I highly doubt that's true.

Don't you mean 59:12? Sidenote: Even though you claim to not be placing the blame on individuals, you sure seem to be in your post.

FYI: They beat STL in 5.

How can the Wings be 1-6 when facing elimination since the 97 SC Finals, when they won two games (while facing elimination) in the 02 WCF's alone? When the series score was 3-3 the Wings were still facing elimination, the only difference was the other team was as well. Go Wings!
