No one's asking you to. That wasn't why I started this thread. People that troll get no sympathy from me. Its the ones that are posting valid hockey conversation that deserve the respect I'm talking about.

This is a great thread! While hits are great, disciplined hits are what make the difference, as you hinted at. The Wings are hitting, not only more, but smarter as well. They aren't and haven't been all season a hitting team, but they've revved it up in the playoffs. It shows that they are willing to give those hits and do the dirty work to get the puck back (especially in the offensive zone - forecheck). When the Wings do this, no team thus far has had an answer for it. The Wings' hitting is necessary to keep the opposition in check (no pun intended), and make them realize that this isn't the same team that got pushed around in playoff years past (even though most seem to already understand that). As far as I'm concerned the Wings don't need to outhit an opponent, just be comparable to what their dishing. As I said before, when the Wings match other teams physical play, it gets the opposition on their heals and allows the Wings to play their pretty passing game, which leads to goals. As others have said, the Ducks absolutely should be the more physical team, but they aren't putting forth the effort that the Wings are. Edit: Spelling

This is the reputation I'm very proud of as a Wings fan, and LGW is another WIngs hot-spot to show this same respect.

I was home for a quick visit from college to car shop. I was 20 at the time and bought my very first car that day. The b*stard at the dealership had to schedule the delivey for about an hour before the game so I missed the first period. I was uber-pissed. Anyway, I told my little brother to call me on my cell if/when a goal was scored. It was hilarious that he called me 4 different times (the 4 goals of the first period) while I was signing papers! The salesman looked really confused. I got home and watched the rest of the onslaught.
-
Again, I never said those people shouldn't be ripped for *those* type of comments. Once again, I'm referring to some of the replies a good amount of LGW'ers are making in regards to clean hockey talk. Nothing more.
-
I'm not saying that either. My point is, when we respond with comments like "Your Dumb!" when a Ducks fan has a differing view of their players, it makes us look like some of the posters on LetsGoBlues.com.
-
A little trash talk never hurt anyone. That's not what I'm referring to. I'm talking about when a Ducks fan posts against the majority (Wings fans) some of the replies are ridiculous insults and dull the boards.
-
The trashing I'm referring to is in regards to the posters that are Ducks fans, not Chris Pronger (he deserves what he got). And no ill-will meant, but if you look at a good amount of the current threads you'll notice plenty of what I'm referring to.

Yes, but as I said, given the scenario that *you gave*, the earliest I could see them schedule a game would be Friday May 25th. As you stated, it should be 2 days after the final game of the round, but if what you said transpires and both series' end early, Friday the 25th might not be completely out of the realm of possibility. Even still, I would think the league would want to open the SCF's on a Saturday as opposed to a Friday.

Classic Melrose! Deja Vu back to the 97 Finals when the Wings went back to Detroit up 2 games to none, and all of a sudden he said he knew the Wings would win it all along. Melrose jumps bandwagon's all the time. Sidenote: I watched it last night as well. I've always liked that movie. D*mn Racki, he got what he deserved!

I don't ever recall the league starting the next round early due to the fact that each series had been completed ahead of schedule. Generally the next round of the playoffs does begin a day or two after the final scheduled game of the previous round. Keep in mind that if the DET/SJ series had gone to 7 games, they would have played Wednesday, and game 1 of the ECF's was played the next day (Thursday). Obviously the WC winner of that round was scheduled to get two days off, but it might be different for the SCF's since its the final series, and (in your scenario) given that the series doesn't go 7 games. Even still, the ealiest I can see game 1 of the SCF's being played is next Friday the 25th. Whoever wins the DET/ANA series deserves the break they were scheduled to get regardless of the outcome of the ECF's. That being said, the ECF's are still alive and well and headed back to Buffalo. I'm just saying that a game 6 in that series isn't completely that big a stretch. Addition: Yes, the Western Conference has home-ice advantage for the SCF's regardless of who wins this round, given the fact that Ottawa moves on. If Buffalo moves on they'll have home-ice advantage against either DET or ANA.

I didn't realize that responding to someone's post in ways that are actually hockey related was ballerina-like. I think you need to wake up. Trust me, I'm as tense and emotional as any Wing fan on this board. During the games, I'm wound tight as hell, and when the games over, all I think about is the upcoming one. The point is, warranting dulling the boards during the WCF's just because this is "FREAKIN WAR" is dumb. If you're arguing to warrant people posting BS responses, I think you're the one who needs to be told, "WAKE UP ITS TIME!!!!!"

The fact of the matter is it doesn't change the end result of the hit. Burke is trying to make an excuse for Pronger, but the end result is still the same. Keep you hands and elbows down, and Pronger would have got a stern lecture. Lift your elbows up, and you get the suspension you deserve regardless if Rob is involved in the play.
-
Nope, that wasn't me. Practically every Sharks fan was great, except Samadelphia, and I thought the majority of the board treated them with a lot of respect. The Ducks fans currently, not so much. Edit: Spelling

I'm obviously a little late in chiming in here, but there's a hell of a lot more than just TOI and Pts that determine the Norris trophy winner. I almost look at it as, if this person goes down, the entire team is f*cked. If Lids went down, the Red Wings aren't in the WCF's, IMO. Lids' play is more important to his team this year (once again), and his TOI, Pts, and +/- are just icing on the cake.

Matt, "Sitting Duck" for the frontpage! Priceless! :rotflmao:

NHL.com is always the last to post news of all the major sources. I stopped using that site for anything outside of statistical purposes a long time ago. Gotta stick with TSN.ca/NHL
-
Well deserved. Simple as that.

You're two Assitant/Alternate Captains Ducks fans! You gotta be proud. I watched this clip many times last night, and I didn't think it could look any worse until some D-Bag labels it "Great hit". It's like the Colorado fans that called Turtle the "Draperizer". It's not something to be proud of. In fact there were some Ducks fans that posted here their embarrassment for the hit (as they should).
-
One can only hope. Cherry is a D-Bag. If the Wings are fortunate enough to move on (and assuming the Sens do as well) the tradition of decades ending in 7 will continue regardless of the SCF winner. Plus you've got the first Swede/Euro Captain to win the cup. It'll be interesting if it happens.

QFT It's never been the Wings style, and getting into a huge brawl could've woken them up. By laughing at him, it further crushed the Ducks spirit. Then later in the game a few good hits were laid on Pronger, and to add insult to injury, Homer comes right back, and has the assist on the next goal. If that isn't a kick in the balls, I don't know what is. The Wings have stood up for their players a fair amount in these playoffs, but one thing they don't do is stoop to the other team's level when they start with plays like that. Edit: Spelling
-
As is mine. If Pronger is suspended for one game, tomorrow night will now be upgraded to an "Absolute Must Win" game.
-
I feel a one game suspension is fair, but I'll still wait to hear before I'll believe it. You would think if they've called a hearing he'll get something, hopefully its not just a fine and a lecture.
