Hello Everyone I'm with the Shelly's fam right now, so I had to DVR the game. I see the score, but how is Dats doing today? I see he doesn't have any points of the first three goals, but is he playing strong? -
Absolutely, but some goalies are more of a risk than others. The way Dom's health has been the past few years, makes him a much greater risk than a guy like Miller. That's my point.
-
Not at all, I said the same thing in post #584. How did you come to the conclusion that I think his age is the bigger concern over his groin? Just because I wrote it first in the following sentence in my previous post: "Gambling on a 42 year old goalie with a fragile groin". Trust me, his age is the least of my worries come Thursday. I think you were putting words in my mouth with that one.

This is going to be a really exciting day around the NHL. The playoffs are in full force as today! Unfortunately I'm out of town, so I'm DVR'ing about 4 games today!
-
A little late, but I'll throw in a Especially with where they were projected to finish this season by the media and most of LGW.
-
As I said, one week from today Dom becomes a huge gamble. That's the point I'm making. Sure its no gamble if Dom went down earlier in the season, but not now.

I agree though. As I said, one week from today Dom becomes a huge gamble. That's the point I'm making. Sure its no gamble if Dom went down earlier in the season, but not now.

Another Sidenote: Gambling on a 42 year old goalie with a fragile groin is a bit of a gamble once this time of the year rolls around. Sure it didn't cost the Wings if he went down early in the season, but right now is where the gamble really kicks in.
-
I'm not saying I completely agree with it, I'm just responding to your point about the long term discount.
-
I would assume Holland and G factored in the salary cap continuing to rise, and thats where the "discount" is. It's another gamble, but we already knew he was a gambler even before this morning.

^ nm You beat me to it Matt.

I think its time to face the cold hard facts: Every player on the Red Wings at one point or another is Lazy and they Sucked!

I would think he means in 2 years. NFM's prediction: 2007/2008 Cap: $47-$47.5 million 2008/2009 Cap: $50 million
-
Again.........$48 mil
-
What would possess you to think that would make him play worse in the playoffs? Use some common sense. He's probably not going to be back after this season, so why wouldn't he want to work his ass off in the playoffs to prove his worth to the rest of the league, and get a decent paycheck?
-
Currently: $44 mil 2007/2008: Reported to be between $47-$48 mil
-
No word yet.........

*Raises Hand*
-
Yes, supposedly between $47-$48 million.
-
That's the spirit!

If this is true, I feel the Wings overpaid for him without any playoff proof. We'll see what happens. As HOH says, I'll believe it when I see it.
