Actually I agree with you.

I'd eliminate the NBA and Wayne Gretzky. Does that count?

Were you stoned? Just kidding

I couldn't agree more with you guys. The problem is that Hudler and Filppula are the noobs this season. Of course both are making a strong case for having it not be them who sits. It's not going to be Filppula, and Samuelsson will get the BS nod. I'm not saying I agree with it, its just what I see happening come April 11th. Trust me, I hope I'm wrong. Sidenote: You don't have to argue with me how worthless Samuelsson is. I lead the charge on that front. I understand your POV, but you have to remember that the regular season is extremely different than the playoffs in regards to the frequency of playing teams. Very rarely do teams play each other 3 times in a row in the regular season, but when they do, you can see a nastiness that wasn't there in the first game. Players start to get annoyed seeing the same guys like Maltby every other night for possibly 2 weeks do what they are famous for. It may not agitate players as much in the regular season, because generally after the game ends one team is on a flight going to another city and doesn't see the team they just played for a few weeks. In playoffs you can bet Maltby will get under the skin of his opponents when games 3-4-5-6 roll around.
-
I will never forget that! I laughed so 'effin hard. You can tell Bergevin was just trying to get rid of it so he didn't get a delay of game penalty, but it was hilarious to see him throw it in his own net.
-
There's no reason to sit Maltby IMO. He's still a good agitator and shut-down player alongside Draper, which will be huge come playoff time. The choice is clear: Vote Samuelsson for the Bench!
-
Just an unbelievably inspired 60 minutes of play by Oz. He looked calm and collective all night long, and gave Nashville nothing. It's a shame he didn't get one of the three stars for this game.
-
Unfortunately, I fear you are correct. Babs wants to play Hudler with how strong he's been down the stretch, but Samuelsson will stay in the lineup.
-
It's not that you're wrong for thinking this, its just that its annoying when teams don't give credit where credit is due. The way to describe Nashville's feeling is Sour Grapes. I'm sure they're frusterated when they finish the season 2-5-1 against the team your competing against to win the division. Trotz is probably looking to rally his troops by his statements more than anything, because there's a good chance these two teams could meet up as early as the second round. Sure its annoying to hear the other team not give credit where credit is due, but isn't that better than being in their shoes right now?

See my post, directly above yours.

I'll go with a tight game 3-1, with an EN goal from Dats. Sidenote: Bert gets his first point as a Wing tonight.
-
Exactly, and make it a package deal with Draper.
-
No, not always.........as long as its something I agree with. The thing is, I was just curious about ZFMVP's logic behind his post. Nothing more.
-
Basically what I'm saying is that the Wings have beaten the Preds the past three games and none of them have been with Bert in the lineup. I was just posing a question as to why that poster thought Bert would be the so called "X-Factor". Nothing more, and nothing malicious intended. What do you mean, "I hope not"? Did the Wings not win the last 3 games without Bert. I agree that Bert's presence only helps the Wings chances tonight, but that had nothing to do with the question I was posing to zetterbergfuturemvp
-
If I'm correct, tonight is the last game of Tootoo's suspension. He can return Saturday against the Stars (how fitting )
-
What would give you this reasoning? The Wings won the past 3 games against Nashville without Bertuzzi, what makes you think that "Big Todd" doing something will be the factor that puts the Wings over the top? I'm just curious........
-
This I can agree with. But there's nothing wrong with using a little caution. That's my point. I firmly believe that isn't possible. That'll work!
-
Whether its a goal or an assist, the puck still ends up in the net, and thats all that matters.
-
Here's hoping! Sorry, just trying to keep things even-keel around here. Of course they wouldn't. However, when someone returns from an injury things generally aren't as black & white as being 100%. Sure his inflamed disc might be "100%" cured, but the chance to re-aggravate is usually higher, especially with some of the cheap-shot artists out there that know where his injury is/was. All I'm saying, is that if the Wings feel he's good to come back on Sunday, it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to give him one more games rest just to be on the safe side. You would be awfully sour if he came back, got ran in the back, and was shelved for the season even though he was "100%" going into the game........wouldn't you? Sidenote: You shouldn't assume that players of Z's status only return when they're 100%. A lot of times a player like Z, who's young, vital to his team, and a true competitor can think he's close enough to 100%, and the re-aggravate an injury. Granted Z has a better head on his shoulders than most players his age, but you just never know.
-
I gotta agree. I'm sure Dats is probably looking for a figure around $6-$6.5 mil. With how he's played this season (especially as of late) if he was asking for $20 M/4 yrs, I believe Kenny would have locked him up, even with his playoff performance still up in the air.
-
IMO, Z should absolutely not partake in Sunday's game. There is no reason to push his return. I'd feel a hell of a lot better if he returned Thursday the 5th. That'll give him those final two games to get back into game mode for the playoffs. Don't push it. If we do, we could lose him for the playoffs, and thats not worth a couple extra regular season games.
-
Who cares? Does it really bother you? To me, these are almost as bad as Power Rankings. They hold no bearing whatsoever on the standings, so why let them get to you. If these rankings are on a per-game ratio, than its not surprising at all the Z is still ahead of Dats.

Osgood vs. Nashville, Hasek vs. Dallas

Ozzie has plenty of conifidence playing the Preds this season, seeing as he's taken 5 out of a possible 6 points from them this season. I have no problem with this move. -
This sums up exactly what I've been saying for the past few weeeks. There are so many people on the boards trying to figure out who the Wings are going to play as the first or fourth seed, yet we don't even know if they're going to be in one of those two positions. Win your games, and let the rest fall into place.
