That Mowers goal was awesome. I reminded me of Z's goal in game 6 against EDM last year. The Mac goal to win the cup in 97 is definitely top 5 for me.

When your team wins the Presidents Trophy as many times as the Wings have, yes it is realistic. The Wings may be a victim of their own success, but thats what happens when you are as successful as the Wings have been the past decade. I'm sorry if that upsets you when it comes to Datsyuk, but thats the way it is in Detroit. This would be a none issue if Dats played for a team that consistenly missed the playoffs, but in Detroit, its a major factor. Edit: Spelling

This is beyond laughable. If you go back 4 months ago, a year ago, and a year before that, people were saying the same thing: Dats is a great regular season scorer, but struggles in the playoffs. Anyone who thinks Dats isn't a great regular season performer deserves to be never taken seriously again. The problem most people have with Datsyuk, is that Detroit measures success with Stanly Cups, not regular season stats. If Dats is going to make $5 million a year (11.36% of the cap) while playing in Detroit, he needs to produce in the playoffs. If he can't, he doesn't warrant a $5 million deal. It's as simple as that. We need Dats to step up and help lead the team when the playoffs roll around, and that's the reason some people want him shipped out. What scares the hell out of me is Dats going on a regular season tear (which he has), and then he prices himself right out of Detroit's range. Now all of a sudden we lose an incredible talent for absolutely nothing. This is my biggest concern.

Exactly. I am very willing to give Dats between $4.25 and $5 million (depending on his playoff run). But $7 won't work with Lids pulling in $7.8. And there is no question that Lids deserves every dime of his contract.

That's not why I picked Lids first. I picked him because (as you stated) the Wings net was empty. Lids is the most responsible player on the Wings roster, and I want him setting up the play to Z or Dats, not the other way around.\ It has nothing to do with Lids' shot.

Come playoff time, teams will absolutely focus on that line. That's why I brought up signing 1 or 2 solid, strong players (both forwards) before the deadline. I believe thats going to be the key to the Wings going deep in the playoffs. As long as Dom's healthy come playoff time (knock on wood) I have no concern about him in net. That's an interesting theory, but IMO you never want to overpay for anyone, especially if you're doing it on purpose and there's not a foundation for your gamble. If Dats shows up in the playoffs and has a big playoff year, that's a different story. Not when your winning and Z is putting up the numbers that he is. I'd rather have 4 goals per game come from 1 line (right now) than only 2 goals a game come from different lines . And I hope you're right with this statment. If Dats shows up in the playoffs, Z continues his hot play, Lang puts up his usual playoff numbers, and we add a solid strong player (or 2) at the deadline, this team is very scary.

Every player needs a little help here and there, but the Wings management has said plenty of times that when a player is struggling, all they have to do is put them on a line with Z, and they come right around. While Dats is a hell of a play maker, Z is the only one I've heard them say that about. Sidenote: Crosbyesque..........its not like Crosby doesn't get his share of normal goals. In fact, he gets plenty of them.

Because no one in their right mind would break up a line that is clicking so well right now. Yes, Dats is playing well and deserves a lot of credit. So does Homer.....but Z is playing at a whole different level right now. It's pretty hard to deny that.

The schedule for VS. comes out before the season started. Philly has a good market, and they finished 5th in their conference last year. Not many people expected Philly to struggle the way they have this season. Unfortunately these things happen. I.E. Take a look at some of the teams that played on Monday Night Football this season.

While I have a problem with more than one of your five reasons, my biggest beef is with number 4. While Dats has helped Z, its Zetterberg that is tearing up the league right now. They same could be said about Datsyuk's goals recently (I.E. The first goal against Dallas on 2/14). To answer number 5, it would be Lidstrom first, then Zetterberg, and then Datsyuk. While Dats is great, Z is the more complete, all-around better player. Simple as that.

If I'm seeing this correctly, I should have moved into a tie with FinRedWing for second place and within 1 of the overall lead. That's a big week for NFM after 2 sh*tty weeks. Scratch that, FinRedWing and Aussie should be tied for first, and I'm 1 point behind them.

I stand corrected, but it still wasn't a natural since the Yotes scored before Z completed his Hattie. Sidenote: I'm really disappointed in myself that I forgot that. :nonono:
