More than just a couple days.

The best moment for me came during my final season of competitve hockey. Our team ended up finishing the season number 1 overall that season, and the battles against the number two team were always incredible, and its important to note that this game was the battle of the two best teams. So here goes: We were down 2-0 at the end of the first period. During the second period, I scored two goals to knot it up at 2-2, which I thought we'd hold heading into the third. However, the other team scored under a minute left to make it 3-2 going into the final period. About midway through the third, we got a powerplay. Right before I took the faceoff I went back to our Dman (Ben) who had an absolute cannon, and told him, I was going to win the faceoff back to him, and I wanted him to take the shot as soon as I moved through the front of the goal. I ended winning the faceoff and went right to the net, drawing both the other teams center and one of their Dmen to cover me. It created a nice wall of players that the goalie had no shot of seeing through, and Ben ripped a shot right off the crossbar and in. The score remained 3-3 for almost the rest of the game. With 2:00 minutes left my coach told me he wanted me to push up and play a little bit more aggressive in our own defensive zone. Now one thing I didn't mention is that Ben and I had a connection on the ice. We always seemed to know where the other was, and that became huge in this game. With 0:30 seconds left in the game we were fighting to get the puck out of the zone, but the other team kept putting good pressure on us, and kept the puck down low. It was hard for me to not push further back and help out more with the play, but I listened to my coach, and its a d*mn good thing I did. With 4-5 guys fighting for the puck behind the goal, somehow, Ben squirted free with it, and the instant I noticed it, I charged up the middle. Ben hit me with a pass between the blue and red line. Since I had a jump on the other teams two Dmen I was in all alone on the goalie. Sidenote: It seemed like I was skating alone forever since I got the puck about 10 feet before the red line! Anyway, as I moved in to the goalie I faked to the backhand, and just as he started to move, I quickly pulled back. When I saw him react to that, (as I was hoping ) he left his 5 hole wide open. I slid the puck between his legs for the winner! It was one of the most exciting moments of my life. The skate back to my teammates was beyond exhilarating. We held on to win 4-3, and I recorded a hat trick against the next best team in the league. I'll never forget that day. Edit: Grammar

The same could be said to the contrary. Teams *HAVE* to gamble in order to put a truly competitive team (that could win it all) on the ice. Edit: Clarity

Exactly, there isn't enough to judge him on just yet. However, he has a ton of potential. The Wings organization has taken a gamble, and we'll all have to wait and see if it pays off. Simple as that.

I don't believe this to be true. Also, Lebda has made his share of mistakes as well. Probably one of the dumbest things I've ever heard! Yeah, lets ship out a Dman that is going to be a major factor of our defense in 3 years for a quick rental player thats a UFA next season. Funny nonetheless!

Markov will be 31 this year, Kronwall just turned 26.

Lebda may be playing a little more solid right now, but it depends on how you use the word "upside". Are you talking about Potential? Clarify..........

My thoughts exactly. As of now, he isn't currently playing to what his *FUTURE* contract states. However, its a gamble toward his future progression. Remember, he's not going to be getting $3 million next year. His contract breakdown is $1.5 million in 07-08, $3 million in 08-09, $3.25 million in 09-10, $3.5 million in 2010-2011, and $3.75 million in 2011-2012. That gives him the rest of this season, and all of next season to mature.

1:40 is just plain unbelivable regardless if the record is 0:21. Its remarkable to get a hat trick in a game. Its' rare to get a natural hatty, but getting one in 1:40 is truly special. Sidenote: esteef, one hat trick doesn't warrant saying it was a mistake to get "rid" of Whitney. There were good reasons he had to go. Sidenote 2: I'm not referring to his performance the past two seasons.

Seeing as that he just got a 5 year/$15 million contract, I don't think he's going anywhere.

All of that being said.........the man was drafted 210th overall!

Realistically, its going to take a package like Hudler and a 1st Rounder for Bert. It would obviously be phenomenal if the Panthers would go for Williams and a 1st, but depending on what others are offering is what will tell the tale. Again Bert could just be a smokescreen. If I'm calculating correctly, if we got Bert before any other games were played it would cost the Wings $1,734,914.70. If we got Bert the day of the Trade Deadline, the Wings would take a cap hit of $1,220,866.30. However, if Bert has been on IR for almost the entire season, that might change things. If anyone knows if that affects salary cap for the team that takes over his contract at the trade deadline, please explain.

That's great news! Here's hoping Dom can now get some rest, and be ready to roll when the playoffs start, and at the same time Ozzie can get warm.

Sidenote: $200 is a steal to play a 60 minute game with those guys.
