It always makes me cringe when I here things like this before a game such as tonights. It's like when people use the "S" word before or during a game. Agreed. Even potting 2-3 in the first should help the Wings roll the lines and keep the big guns' TOI in check. Tomorrow is gonna be a huge test and the Wings will definetely need to have their legs under them in order to get to the net and stay there against a goalie such as Luongo.

I get what he meant, but I still think it was a poor choice of words. Simply stating he wasn't trying to avenge something Draper had done or that he didn't premeditate it is a much clearer way of getting his point across. Got a source/link for that claim? I'd be interested to see it.

Great interview! My jaw dropped when Lemieux said he held no ill-will toward Draper. What a ******-bag comment to make. Oh, I'm so thrilled for you Claude that you hold no ill-will toward a guy you f*cking cheapshotted! [/sarcasm] I was shocked at first when Mac agreed to shake Lemieux's hand in this interview, but what Claude said to Mac in the Dallas game probably mended a big bridge. Not only that, with him being a recovered alcoholic and the steps those individuals make, that was probably important for him to let go of some of that anger. Lemieux is still a jackass in my book!

I remember back sometime around 2000-2001 ESPN asked what was the best rivalry in all of sports. The options were as follows: - Detroit Red Wings-Colorado Avalanche - New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox - Green Bay Packers-Chicago Bears - Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Vikings - *One more option I can't remember* - Other The Wings-Avalanche collected something like 47% of the total votes! No other rivalry was within 25% of that total. Think about the significance of that given how little ESPN showed hockey at that point in time.

Watching those videos makes me really miss that rivalry. What transpired between those two teams from '96 to '02 was something I've never seen in my lifetime in any other sport, and it depresses me to think I likely won't ever see the Wings in that epic of a rivalry again.

I'm fairly confident that was just a joke on the poster's part. It sounds like everyone was ripping on Ovie for doing something so dumb. I'm sure what happened on Sunday was just a coincidence. Unless I'm misunderstanding something......

To the OP: Keep in mind how solid STL is playing at the moment and March 24th is just a week away. On top of that, if CHI and SJ keep their current lead over Vancouver and one of those two teams seperate themselves from the other by 3 (or more) points, there's a reasonable chance CHI will bench players the final game of the season. None of the games are given, but its reasonable to say some "should" be easier than others.

Because this isn't Brodeur or Luongo we're talking about here. Despite Jimmy's exceptional play this season, he's still a rookie and has never sniffed what he's about to experience should the Wings make the playoffs. If the Wings do make it to the postseason and Howard s***s the bed, its not exactly an ideal situation to put in Osgood after having not started for roughly 2+ months. This isn't like two seasons ago where Ozzie had a great regular season but Dom got the nod because of his repuation. With that, Babs also can't afford to give Ozzie repeated starts at this point in hopes that what happened last season when Ozzie turned it on at this point will happen again. What he can do, is give Oz the occasional start when the matchup looks right to ensure he's atleast somewhat in game-form if he's called upon mid-April or later.

The fact that he's got the most takeaway's in the league is great, but the seperation between him and everyone else in the league in the takeaway department is mind-boggling. Pav's puck-handling and ability to not only create space but to hold the puck in tight areas are second to absolutely no one IMO. He's does it so many times night-in and night-out that its probably the reason he has more giveaways than the rest of the candidates.

Far too many. Online stream or no stream, its BS how much we've had to miss this season with the amount people pay DirecTV and NHL Center Ice to ensure they get every single Wings game. I'm one of those people. Either way, to this news!

Ugh.....talk about a weekend to forget. To add insult to injury, the Lightning beat the Capitals in Washington which they had only done once in their past 15 games. There went my x2 game.

Does anyone else besides me get annoyed with the fact that because of the "new nhl" players have to hold both of their hands in the air to "prove" they weren't hooking/holding someone? Ugh...its becoming too much like Soccer.

When you think about it, players have a better chance of recognizing/predicting where the puck is going to land when it hits the mesh than they do when it hits a stanchion. Not that I don't recognize the fact that the net is protection and not part of the rink....just sayin'.

I love how blue-collar the Detroit crowd always is. Draper throws his body in front of a point slapper and the crowd roars in approval. That's a crowd that gets it.
