Dealing guys like Lebda doesn't count, IMHO. Of course I wouldn't mind him being moved, but you made it sound (in this thread) like you wanted to dump picks/prospects, rather than guys like Lebda. Losing Abdelkader wouldn't be the worst loss, but it'll also be interesting to see if he can become a Draper-esque player in the next few years. Now, losing guys like Lebda and Abdelkader plus a pick to supplement some goal-scoring depth up front probably isn't going to make or break this season. I'm not going to get into Holland's comment about Franzen, Lilja and Kronwall being our trade deadline acquisitions, but I will say that the guys that needed to step up in their absence will be more effective now that the pressure is off and they're playing against lower line talent. Lastly, while it's obvious depth is one of the most important components to winning a cup, I'm just not sure one guy like Poni is enough to equate to much of a difference at all. Now, the Williams signing.....I agree with. Injured or not this season, I don't think he would've done anything worth his $1.5 million like Bert has. Now that being said, we also need to keep in mind that its not as simple as his $1.5 equaling a $5 million player. Adding a guy like that doesn't just cost money, it cost prospects/picks that the Wings really don't have a ton of right now.

It's not about "pumping up the fans." What type of move could he realistically make given our cap situation that would be of significant benefit to this years' team?

Holland states he wants/needs to replenish after all the picks/prospects they've traded the past 15 years.

As expected, Holland says he doesn't expect to be busy today.

Who cares how many people there are? The key is that the ratings are some of the best America has seen in all of *sports* in recent history. That's all that matters.

Whether it means anything for the sport going forward or not, that's just awesome to see.

What makes you an expert on how Babs is feeling and where his focus will be tonight? Given the professionalism he's exuded since the day he joined the Wings evidence points to the contrary.
