    2010 Winter Olympics - Quarterfinals

I don't think that's correct. If a goal takes place, any and all action that happens after that is null and void. The only way something could happen is if a match penalty took place.

More or less. No one created a single GDT for this game so I pinned this thread as such.

2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)

I know this post wasn't directed at me, but I'll take a swing at it. Detroit losing to Anaheim is not the same as USA beating Canada. Detroit is superior to Anaheim while USA has nowhere close to the talent Canada does on their roster. Apples to Oranges. I'm not one of those ripping the Canadians apart for the loss, but I am extremely proud of the fact that the US was able to come out of that hostile environment against a vastily superior team with a win. It's an amazing accomplishment given the circumstances, and win or lose its something American's can hold their heads up high for since it seemed so far-fetched a few weeks ago. If you want to go at people that you feel are gloating, then it kind of sad given that Canada *should* beat the US. That being said, I would like to think most Americans (like myself) are just extremely pleased with what they were able to accomplish Sunday evening alone.

2010 Winter Olympics - Qualification Round

You mean after Boston? He was fired there after a few seasons as well. Agreed, I'd prefer to shoot against Mezin any day over Hiller. I don't want to have to face him again.

    Brodeur Out, Luongo In!

Are you seriously ripping the US for the fact that they gave up only 1 more goal to a team then Canada did, when the US in fact was able to beat Canada? If you want to brag about Luongo shutting out Norway it doesn't bother me one bit. However, also throwing in a jab at the US after they just beat Canada shows how much you're really grasping at straws.

2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)

Gold, Silver, Bronze or no medal at all...it doesn't change the fact that the US was able accomplish something *Sunday Night* that no one foresaw. The fact of the matter is while most Canadians are trying to sweep this under the rug as if its no big deal, it really is....and its a huge deal for American hockey. I'm not about to predict a gold, but this US Hockey team has accomplished something significant already in these Olympics.

    Hank is missing a tooth!

He lost a front tooth (or two) a few years back. Perhaps something happened to his fake tooth....it could be the same one he's missing.

    Brodeur Out, Luongo In!

With a solid lead mid-way through the second or to start the third, it wouldn't be the worst idea to give Fleury some playing time, just in case. That being said, I defer to my earlier statement, that Babs probably wants Lou to get into game mode instead of being thrown in against arguably their biggest threat to get ousted against.

    Brodeur Out, Luongo In!

He's well rested and I'm sure Babs wants him to get some light action in before tomorrow. He's not going to see a ton of shots today anyway.

    Wings will dominate after Olympics

Yes, they missed the first game because the Wings' brass allowed them to go home to Sweden to celebrate their gold medal with the country. Every single Olympic Swede on the Wings stated how much it meant to them to be able to be a part of the festivities. Truly classy move by Detroit. That being said, I don't see the Wings granting anyone any time off after these games given their desperate need for points and the fact that they play the following evening after the gold medal game in Colorado.

    Brodeur Out, Luongo In!

He won't....Babs has already said as much. That loss to the USA will likely be the last action he ever sees in the Olympics.

    Wings will dominate after Olympics

Actually, I thought the Wings looked great the last two games before the Olympic break. They got 3 out of 4 points against SJ and OTT, while completely outplaying both opponents. As any Red Wing fan can tell you, there's going to be games where they outshoot the opposition 52-26 like they did against SJ and come up with the loss, but those games are easier to take because you know efforts like that are going to yield far more results than the hot-and-cold play they've shown all season. I'm optimistic about the team after the Olympics, but not because of something it may have done for the players. I think we saw the type of team they want to be going forward the past two regular season games.

    My Olympic Nightmare

Perhaps, but Canada only has themselves to blame for being in this situation.

NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics

The problem I see with no-touch icing took place during the Russia game this weekend. They were just trying to kill time to preserve the win and ended up firing the puck down prompting an icing call. The problem though, was that a Russian was 10 feet in front of any other player and absolutely would've negated the icing. Instead, the play gets blown dead and Russia had to take a last minute face-off in their own zone while (at the time) protecting a 1-goal lead. I wouldn't mind the hybrid version of no-touch icing that's been kicked around before, but I don't care for the cut-and-dry version the IIHF recognizes.
