No amount of heroics is going to be enough if Detroit continues to struggle to find the back of the net. Hopefully Franze's return will force teams to play more balanced defense against Detroit and they'll pick up the offense as a result. So, apparently its the Red Wings' obligation to inform the Swedish National program of any and all updates of a guy that's contracted and paid to play for Detroit? That's ridiculous. Ever since Franzen had surgery they've been saying there's a fair chance he could not only return for the Olympic games, but even a few NHL contests before the break. It's their own fault for not adding Franzen to the provisional roster in December given the progress he was *knowingly and reportedly* making. Cry me a river!

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't think their plane would be shared by any other team. It's not as if the Ducks and the Angels have the same owner (nor do the seasons overlap at this point), and those are the only two pro teams in Anaheim. Oh well, I'm sure there were other factors involved other than the LGW favorite, "Blame Bettman" crap.

Perhaps either teams' plane needed to be in use tomorrow for some other event.

Meech's talent level being above Lebda's is what skews this poll. While Lebda has the big-game experience, Meech seems to be more consistent *when he's played consistently.* If he gets shuffled in and out of the lineup its a wash IMO. When they both play regularly, Meech is more consistent....and has more upside.

While I understand your logic, there are instances where both should be called. For example: a player is called for tripping, and then the player that was tripped over-embellishes the penalty. In that case, both should be called IMHO.

Not deserving of its own thread, but humorous nontheless. This is why I don't read NHL.com. How difficult is it to check your work and realize you used the word "goals" instead of "shots?" NHL.com....you suck! Thank god for TSN.ca.

Personally, I think Meech has played well enough consistently *since he's been played regularly* to garner being kept. If this conversation had been brought up 2 months ago, I wouldn't have batted an eye at the thought of losing Meech to waivers, but I don't see enough in Lebda (regardless of his playoff experience) to warrant the additional nearly $200,000 he makes when every penny is critical at this point. Since Meech has played regularly his level of play has become more consistent than Lebda's and while I understand the value of giving the nod to someone that's played in the pressure situation of the Finals the past 2 years, his level of play just isn't there. Leino just hasn't warranted consideration for keeping, Lebda can be moved, and while its nice to have a guy like May in the 13/14 hole, its not like he's going to play come playoff time anyway. With those three, you've got $1,932,000 in yearly salary off the books and all they need at this point *today* is $1,860,692, which would leave $71,308 as a cushion.

Not if Nashville ties or wins tonight as well. Plus, they'll finish their game against PHX right about the same time the Wings game starts.

Call me crazy, but I'm gonna watch Olympic Hockey. I can't wait to see the world's talent showcased on something worth far more than 5 minutes of frivolous East/West bragging rights. The Canada/Russia Gold Medal game is going to be epic. That's right....I'm calling it!
