Sad micah = sad. It's so tough having your cake and not being able to eat it too.

1,000,000.....unbelievable and slightly depressing since I've posted 16,000+ of those 1,000,000. Get a life, NFM25!

The start of 2005-2006. Last season. The Wings are notorious slow starters. Doesn't mean much when you finish like the Wings do season-in and season-out.
-
I sure hope so! Hopefully Rodgers won't be too nervous in his first career playoff game.
-
FRW, I'm like the Red Wings and you're the Blackhawks. Me: as consistent as they come. You: the very definition of a see-saw. Flashes in the pan followed by cold metal. Sidenote: The mod comment was just a joke....or was it.

Pretty soon - Who are the THREE odd men out?
NeverForgetMac25 replied to stevkrause's topic in General
What possible upside does Meech have that Lebda doesn't? This isn't Meech's rookie season and atleast Lebda has big game experience. I'll take him any day over Meech's "possible" upside. As for Helm, the guy contributes something that the Wings don't have in abundance. Leino is useless and May doesn't serve much of a purpose. Abdelkader can easily be sent down and should be given his waiver situation, which leaves the Wings with 13 forwards. They need 13 up anyway in case of injury or normal rotation, not to mention the fact that this may not even matter given Franzen's status. It's not as if Miller or Eaves are playing at a level far and above Helm to warrant this conversation anyway. -

If you send Janik down and scratch Lebda that means you have Meech as your 6th Defenseman. No thanks, I'd rather have Lebda. Helm's going nowhere, nor should he given his salary and contribution. -
That's because I missed last week, due to the fact that I thought the game wasn't being played on either of the holiday weekends. I was only down by about 6-7. So, no.....it did drop me further.

I haven't read the entire thread, but is Babs putting the ZDH line together because he doesn't want Z overworked at Center in his first game back? Dats and Bert have really found a nice chemistry together and its not as if Babs has ever been shy of splitting Z and D up. Well aren't you a treat.

Holy Sh*t.....I guess the drop 3 rule didn't work so well for me! I do like the idea of the 'double up' game every week. It just adds another fun element to the game. I say let it ride starting this week, but that's just me.

My attempt at comedic relief.

Aaah, I couldn't tell if you were blasting the guy for seriously not being able to stay consistently healthy to save his life since the Isles signed him to that massive contract.
-
Is this thread a shot at DiPietro? I can't tell....tone is so hard to convey over the internet.
-
That's a fair enough statement. However, if you read the earlier posts in this thread, people are already ostracizing Cheli as if he drank 20 beers, 10 shots and a mango wine cooler.

Exactly

I'm not saying it is hard. For someone my size (6'1" 190 lbs), having one drink while eating a meal is not the same as getting wrecked and getting behind the wheel. As for the commercials Rivalred just posted, I completely agree that drunk driving is the definition or irresponsibility, stupidity and selfishness. I just don't consider having a single drink with a meal to be the same, nor do I think those commercials are implying that as well.
-
Nicely done! Oh, how I miss sirdrake. Come back, you crazy bastard! Again, I'm not talking about drunk driving, which I'm 100% completely against. I'm talking about driving while under the legal intoxication limit. At this point, we have no idea what Cheli's BAC is, and until then people shouldn't assume he was above 0.08.
-
I'm not downplaying the fact that even one drink will slightly impair your judgment, but IMHO that doesn't make everyone who has a single drink before getting behind the wheel stupid or a POS. You made a mistake in the past, and just because you realize how lucky you are that nothing happened doesn't mean that people that drink responsibly and drive home are in the wrong. If that was the case, every single person that ever got pulled over would get a breathalyzer and charged accordingly. The point I was trying to make before this thread got derailed was that we don't know what Cheli's BAC was, and until then people need to stop making it out to be that he was s***-wasted and got behind the wheel.
-
Talk about taking something out of context. I'm most certainly not saying it doesn't impair your ability even slightly....obviously the nature of alcohol does that, but you could say that about so many different things when you add alcohol to the mix. So I ask you this, are honestly saying you've never once had a single drink while at a restaurant or anywhere else and then gotten behind the wheel?
-
That's a pretty bold statement to be making. A next-door neighbor of mine was killed by a drunk 15-year old kid on a joy ride and I despise drunk-driving as result. That being said, there's a significant difference between getting blasted and having a single drink during a meal before getting behind the wheel.
-
That's great that you abide by that rule. That being said, I'm willing to bet 99% of the members on this board at some point in their lives have had one drink and then gotten behind the wheel. Bottom line is that for most people drinking one beer with a meal isn't going to impair their judgment enough to be detrimental on the road. How many people go out to restaurants and do exactly what I just described? Millions upon millions.
-
Now you're just asking for some Mod retribution!
-
Well if that's the case, then wouldn't Cheli have been charged with a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) which is illegal rather than a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) which isn't? That's the point of my post. It has nothing to do with his ability to drive at, or slightly above the intoxication limit. If he was at 0.08 of more, he deserves what he's got coming. If its less, depending on Illinois' state laws he may have done nothing wrong other than speeding.
