While I agree he never had the most talented of teams he did have his shot. The 07/08 season was a prime example and he let things fall apart. Regardless of the talent he did or didn't have, he still couldn't figure it. It's not a knock on him, its just that he doesn't have the mindset for that particular position. Most people don't.

Smart move on his part. He just never was able to figure it out. This is just further proof that just because you can be one of the best players of all time, it doesn't mean its going to translate in to coaching success. It's a completely different mindset and thought process.

I don't understand why you used this in your argument, I've already stated to both you and Vladifan that I agree that the league doesn't care enough about its fans to make changes that the majority of us want to see. That's not the point of my posts. The league was losing revenue due to a faulty CBA. The TV deal was not "much better" but it did attract more fans simply due to the fact that ESPN was more accessible. That doesn't mean that it was a better deal, because in fact it wasn't. ESPN treated the NHL like the bastard child it was within the Big 4. The games were getting pushed aside when they had the chance for better ratings with other programming so the NHL went out and made a deal with a network that would bend over backwards for them and pay them close enough to make it worth it. Do you truly believe the loss of Versus network on DirecTV will be a significant decline in regards to the NHL? Most people don't even know what the hell Versus is, much less care about hockey. Will there be a decline: without a doubt. Will it be significant: No way.

The league is doing better financially now than it was before the lockout. We can complain all we want about things we as true fans of the game and the NHL don't like but the bottom line is in fact the bottom line. The league isn't changing the game enough or pissing off the fans passed the breaking point for them to be losing financially. If they were, they'd change things. Losing ESPN hasn't been a major factor at all for the NHL. People here constantly bring that up, and while the NHL had better exposure with ESPN, they weren't generating the revenue they are now. Given that outcome, why should they care if they "lost" ESPN? You can say its connected in a way and to a point you are correct, but the bottom line is that until the league percentage revenues stop increasing they're going to continue to operate this way, and as a business they're not in the wrong for doing it that way.

So would I, unfortunately I still have one more year left on my contract with DirecTV. The real bummer is that I really loved DirecTV this past year until this massive hiccup came about. Next year, I'll likely be switching to Dish if Time Warner still isn't including the NHL Network, Versus in HD and CenterIce in HD. The fact that CI is in HD is huge for me. I also like having the extra NFL games that NFL Network offers.

That's because they'll make that $4 billion back and then some. It's not about how much it costs DirecTV to continue having Versus in their lineup, its whether they'll make the money back. With the rate Comcast/Versus is requesting, clearly they don't feel they will. Don't get me wrong, I'm just as pissed about this situation as anyone, but I also understand where DirecTV is coming from. Not that I'm happy about it, because its a major inconvenience for me and I'll be super pissed if a deal isn't resolved atleast before the playoffs.

They're a business.....of course they're trying to make as much money as possible. What business doesn't? You're right in saying "they don't give a s*** about their fans or the integrity of the game", but as a business why shouldn't their number one concern be financial?

Or DirecTV buys it. Not that I'm aware of. I looked into it a couple years ago but nothing came from it. The FSD games can be viewed if you purchase the FSN package from DirecTV, but that's still only half the preseason games. The others that aren't picked up by FSN are still going to be unavailable. Speaking of which, what I wouldn't give to watch them play Farjestads Bk Karlstad next Wednesday! I really wish NHL Network would pick up that game instead of the game Sunday against Pittsburgh. Atleast you'll get to watch that game, if you have NHL Network that is. Also, if you get CBC you should get the game on Friday against the Leafs.

I just got off the horn with DirecTV and they told me there's no new news regarding the negotiations. She also said at this point it doesn't look like there will be a deal in place and the only possibility out there is for DirecTV to buy out the network. That last statement of hers made me kind of question everything else she told me because that doesn't seem very feasible. As for the compensation for my troubles, they discounted the price of NHL CenterIce by $52.50, but I'm still SOL for Versus. I guess I'll be watching those 10 games at my parents house. The playoffs is really gonna suck though. I'll be at my folks house all the time. Also, for those that are interested it looks at though the cost for CenterIce this year is going to be $163.80 (4 Payments of $40.95).

This story has really lost its luster. ^ Brett Favre is a great comparison. Him with Zetterberg? Imagine him with Dats! That would be the better fit for Foppa. A pure set-up man with a pure sniper alongside, not to mention the added bonus that teams don't have the luxury of doubling down on Foppa based on the fact that Dats can put the puck in the net as well as almost anyone.

You really need to stop making this comment as if its fact or like its already in the works. As Heaton said, there's about a 3% chance of Stuart going anywhere before his contract is up, yet you constantly make the claim as if there's a deal already in place. There's not, and I'll bet you 5-to-1 it doesn't happen.

Just wanted to be the first to say, "Alteast it happened now rather than right before the postseason." No worries. It's not like Hank's competing for a job and this just gives others a chance to gain some experience.

Don't let the grit-slappies anywhere near this thread. Absolutely awesome that someone did the research for this.

It'll be real interesting to see how Tatar handles the more physical leagues. When he adds some bulk to his 176 pound frame, his nose for the net will become even more prevelant. Sidenote: When you hear the name "Tatar" does anyone else besides me immediately think this:

9:30 CT start time, I'll watch a period of it for sure. That Packer game kept me up later than I wanted to last night. Besides, the US Open Mens Championship is tonight. If it was the Wings, I wouldn't miss a second of it regardless of how late it was going to be.

Fixed it for you.

Datsyuk would like to finish career in KHL

And it makes the KHL sound bush-league. More good stuff....and also funny. -

Bulls***. But clearly you don't care about other people's personal preference so whats the point of debating with you. I think the logo is classic and sharp. I don't care if has nothing to do with the team name. That's not the point, but you sure seem hell bent on making it the point when I never was. Get over it. -

Yeah....and that difference is called personal taste. Quit pretending like your POV is the only one that matters....it's not. -

It's basic, yet sharp. It's not cluttered and to me its "classic." I like simplistic designs and logos. That doesn't make it wrong, just that I have different tastes than you. You don't like it...fine. I think their current logo is a piece of s***....also fine. -

So what? All I was saying is that its a bad-ass logo....regardless of what it represents. You must have miss-quoted me, because I like the rink-and-stick logo. Doc was the one who thinks its stupid. -
I really wanna see the Wings play Farjestads Bk Karlstad on the 30th. That would be sweet.

Those jersey's were sweet. I used to love the rink-and-stick logo of the Canucks with those colors as well. I was happy they kept the colors when they switched jerseys last year, but I was bummed they decided to stick with their current logo. I think the Canuck "C" logo is lame, while the rink-and-stick logo is simply classic! This logo....so Bad-Ass: -
