2012 LGW Playoff Picks Game: Round 4

Welcome to Round 4 of the Playoff Picks Game. Picks are due Wednesday before the start of the game. I'll have the Round 3 scores updated first thing tomorrow morning. If anyone is still interested, the rules to the game are located at the bottom of this post. The final match-up is as follows: Stanley Cup Finals: (6) New Jersey Devils vs. (8) Los Angeles NOTE: Please copy and paste the following template when making your picks. This truly cuts down on the time it requires to tally up scores and I greatly appreciate it. Bold the team you're picking to win, and then write the series score directly after in this manner: -- VAN/CHI 4-1 Round 4 Template: ________________________________ NJD/LAK: 4- ________________________________ The format this year is the same as last, so please make sure you fully understand the rules below before making your picks. For those of you that aren't familiar with the game, here's how it works: Each round you will pick a winner for each series. For every correct series winner you predict, you will receive 4 points for the first round matchups, 8 for the 2nd, 12 for the 3rd, and 16 for the Finals (0 if you pick the incorrect team, 3 points if you picked a 4-3 series and the other team won in 7 games). Also, to aid with tiebreakers you will pick how many games the losing team in each series will win. Given that the team you picked to win actually does win the series, you will then have the opportunity to receive up to 3 bonus points. For every game you are off for the losing teams actual win total, I will subtract 1 bonus point. After each round, every player will then re-pick again based on the teams that made it through to the next round. Whoever has the most points at the end of the season, wins Playoff bragging rights. As was mentioned earlier, if you pick a series to go to the 7th game and the series does but the team you picked ends up losing, you will receive 3 points rather than 0. Lastly, pick who you feel will represent each conference in the Stanley Cup Finals as well as the Champion. This will be worth 3 points per pick if you're correct. Feel free to post any questions, and remember that your Picks must be in *before* the first puck drops of the first scheduled game each round.

Yeah, that's pretty brutal. I lucked out with my first game ever at Lambeau Field. It was the game Don Majikowski got hurt and a young, scrappy kid by the name of Brett Favre came in to replace him. The rest is history.

No doubt the ending to last season was painful. I was beyond pissed, but that loss isn't enough to consider being a Packers fan painful. It's like being a Red Wings fan...not much to complain about.

It wasn't the first and it won't be the last. In fact, my next Tough Mudder is in September! How is being a Packers fan enter me into the Hall of Pain? They're the most storied franchise in the NFL and have the most championships. On top of that, they're set up to compete for the Super Bowl every year for the next half decade atleast. Not really really Hall of Pain worthy.

Speaking of torturing, about a mile after this picture was taken, I severely bruised or even slightly cracked my right rib. It was on an obstacle 3 miles in, meaning I had to do the final 9 miles with the injury! I can't decide whether I'm tough or just an idiot.

What's the point of the crease?

So the solution to that is to make things harder on the goalie rather than force the skaters to elevate their game? That wouldn't be my answer. Skaters have been given plenty of advantages themselves since the lockout (Eliminating the two-line pass, no-play trapezoid, etc.).

What's the point of the crease?

While I understand your sentiment, its not as though the rest of the skaters aren't better trained now than they ever were in the past either. Every player from top to bottom is. ....And this is coming from a guy that's always played Center.

Detroit has inside track on Parise

The 4th line will look completely different next year than it does right now. Eaves should be back and Holmstrom shouldn't be. Parise/(Insert FA)-Dats-Nyqvist Filppula-Z-Hudler Bert-Helm-Franzen Eaves-Abdelkader-Mursak/Miller I'll take that fourth line any day!

Redskins acquire second overall pick in deal with Rams

So essentially, the exchange cost them their '13 and '14 first round pick plus a second rounder. It looks worse when you see those three first-rounders in a row, but they get one back in return. Still, STL clearly won here. Far too much for RG3.

    Quincey vs. Stuart

Kenny won't be able to get anything for his rights given his family situation is very public information. The CA teams know it and realistically won't give up anything if they know their competition is extremely limited.
  25. NeverForgetMac25

    Nyquist needs to stay here

There's no way in hell Babs is touching the Z-Fil-Hud line right now. They're firing on all cylinders and are literally a threat to score every single time they're on the ice. The chemistry that line is showing right now hasn't been seen in Detroit since the hay-days of the ZDH line. The way they hold on to the puck and force the opposition to chase them around their own zone is mesmerizing. Like you said, Dats can get anyone going...so let him work a line with Bert, Mule and Nyqvist rotating. ....and Yes, Nyqvist and Mursak are first two kids I've been this excited about in a very long time. I truly believe we've finally found some young kids that will be game changers in a few years.
