NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
Yeah...a reasonable contract. Nothing crazy, but reasonable. -
I doubt it. The fact of the matter is that we're very lucky to have an owner that's all about winning and will pay whatever it takes to always have a competitive team. Unfortunately, there are owners that simply won't pay more than they want for a team regardless of performance. If those owners pull a profit they're comfortable with, extra luxury tax cash in their pocket won't change their philosophy.
-
This I could get on board with. It's not so bold as to ignore the cap while it helps teams keep their own talent.
-
If you institute a luxury tax system the NHL will end up in the same position it did in 2004-2005. Don't get me wrong, I wish the Wings could spend freely but I understand the economics behind why they can't.
-
See my above. That's why I said: *Move* is the key word.
-
That's because they have 25 players on their active roster. They'll move (or drop down) 3 of those players atleast and be in much better shape.
-
I know that. My comment was in regards to the home-town discount and the familiarity with his teammates. Sidenote: That's *if* his KHL team decides to pay their players with checks that don't bounce.
-
No its not. With a full roster the Wings were in an almost identical situation last year. The year before that we had plenty of room to spare.
-
The last thing this will give Kenny is "Juicy" cap space. If it does come to fruition this will just make things breathable.
-
Yes, given Hudler gives them a 2-week notice. It's sounds ridiculous, but no joke.
-
It's all gonna boil down to what the Dynamo are gonna pay him. If its $4 million Kenny's gotta let him walk. If its $3, Kenny surely will use the home-town discount leverage and try and ink him for $2.5.
-
Is anyone else thrilled the Wings won't be seeing Pronger 4 times a year? I'm ecstatic to see him sign an extension with Philly and I'm excited to see Burke turn the Maple Leafs into a carbon copy of what the Ducks were. Hopefully this will be the start of a more physically demanding eastern conference playoffs.

Even with the rivalry I don't know how anyone could hate Sakic aside from the stereotypical "I hate everything Avalanche related" comments. Hell of a player and a stand-up guy!
-
If anything comes of this I'll be extremely embarrassed for the NHL. What a waste of time.
-
Not enough offense, IMO.
-
Except for Finger and his $3.5 million per for the next 3 years. What a waste.
-
Grey cap hit indicates estimation.
-
$800,000 is a solid price for Leino. Nicely done Kenny!
-
How are they "buying" their successful team? They didn't add 2 offensive superstars and the best goalie in the league. They made one big splash, subtracted a massive part that was almost equal and got weaker in goal.
-
It doesn't change the fact that the Wings' defense in 2002 was far more formidable than the current Blackhawks D, and the goaltending is even farther apart. That's my point.
-
There was no cap back then, the Wings' defense was more stacked in 2002 than the current Blackhawks roster and the Wings had arguably the best goaltender in the league. Apples to oranges.
-
Ouch.....$7 mil+ for a second line defenseman. That can't taste too well.
-
Paying money doesn't give people the right to boo someone that doesn't deserve it.
-
Pathetic. Why should anyone boo him?
-
Their team and the rivalry should continue to get better, but their goaltending is even more suspect now. They'll be good, but won't overtake Detroit in Central this season.
